A truly mesmerising experience awaits at the Future World at the ArtScience Museum SingaporeFuture World takes visitors on an exciting journey of discovery through two sections – City in A Garden and Exploring New Frontiers. So come and experience an extraordinary immersive experience!

This permanent exhibition is created in collaboration with teamLab, a renowned international art collective.

City in A Garden

Your adventure begins with an immersive and mesmerising journey through City in A Garden that takes inspiration from Singapore. Encounter nature by walking through the waterfall and flower fields, which are surrounded with artworks that reflect on the importance of the harmonious co-existence of humans and nature.

Transcending Boundaries Artworks

Comprised of six artworks, this immersive and interactive installation space explores the role of digital technology in transcending the physical and conceptual boundaries that exist between the artworks as well as the viewer. The installation space is evocative of a natural environment rendered entirely digitally, with the imagery of one work breaking free of its frame and entering the space of another, dissolving literal boundaries.

100 Years Sea [running time: 100 Years]

This video work depicts the raising sea levels brought by climate change. It is based on scientific data derived from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which predicts the raising of the world's sea levels over a century. By combining the elegance and beauty of traditional East Asian art with contemporary scientific data, it illustrates the rising sea level over a period of 100 years, bringing to our attention the inevitable catastrophic change on the oceans, should urgent action not be taken.

Animals of Flowers, Symbiotic Lives - A Whole Year per Year

Seasonal flowers bloom while slowly changing. Animals are born from those flowers. The flowers continue to bloom and die in an eternal cycle, forming the shapes of animals.

When people touch the animals, the flower petals scatter. If people touch the animals too much, all of the flowers will scatter, and the animals will die and fade away. The artwork is not a pre-recorded image that is played back; it is created by a computer program that continuously renders the work in real time.

Sliding through the Fruit Field

A playful and colourful interactive artwork that is projected onto a slide.

Visitors become a beam of life-giving sunlight, and as they glide down the slope, their energy is transferred to the fruit field, causing flowers and fruit to blossom and grow. As the different elements interact in the field, new seeds are sown, leading to new life.

A Table Where Little People Live

The little people are a community of miniature characters interacting with one another, paying little attention to the world outside.

However, when you place your hand or an object on the table, the little people will notice and jump onto it. Their actions change according to the shape and colour of the objects, becoming more animated as more objects are added to their world.

A Musical Wall Where Little People Live

A Musical Wall Where Little People Live

Inside the world of the wall, a community of little people run around inside, oblivious to us.

However, when you attach various stamps of mushrooms, sheep barns or long sticks of ice to the wall, these objects materialise in the world of the little people. Watch them slide, jump, climb and play with the objects in delight.

A Window to the Universe where Little People Live

A Window to the Universe where Little People Live

Create a picture by drawing lines with a light pen or make shapes with a light stamp. See your artwork come alive in the little people’s world, where each colour holds a special power.

Draw with those around you and experiment with lots of stamps. Together, you can create a new world in the little people’s universe, granting them various powers and fuelling their playful energy.

Sketch Aquarium: Connected World

This iconic installation features a digitally rendered, aquatic world of underwater animals.

Use your imagination to create fantastic and colourful sea creatures on paper, digitally scan and bring them to life to swim freely in the aquarium where they live.

The sea creatures transcend the physical boundaries of the museum and swim out into exhibitions around the world. Similarly, sea creatures drawn in other parts of the world may appear and swim into the Sketch Aquarium: Connected World right in front of you.

Exploring New Frontiers

Replacing the previous Park and Sanctuary sections of the exhibit, the new gallery, Exploring New Frontiers, consist of 4 interactive installations for families to experience a brand-new experience when visiting the museum.

Autonomous Abstraction, Continuous Phenomena from the Universe to the Self

Explore the phenomenon of self-organisation or spontaneous order. Self-organisation occurs in the universe when different natural rhythms influence each other and slowly synchronize.

You will find colourful flicker of lights on the wall which you can interact with. Touching them causes the light to disperse, change colour, and re-organise themselves.

Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds

Moving into the exhibition, you will find the second installation, Aerial Climbing Through a Flock of Colored Birds, an interactive created created from horizontal bars of varying colours, projection, coloured light and sound. Suspended by rope, the bars appear to float in space.

Families can use these bars to navigate. The bars are linked, so every movement will affect others bars and also the people who are standing on them. Surrounding the bars are patterns of light and colour as well as flocks of birds projected on the floor and wall - create different patterns of light, colour, and sound as you move through the artwork.

Note: There is a height requirement of at least 1.20m in height. Covered shoes are required at all times and no flip flops or high heels are permitted.

Sketch Flight

In Sketch Flight, you can colour your aeroplane, butterfly, or hawk on the paper provided and see the picture you have drawn appear flying through the world on the giant screen in front of you. You can use a tablet device to control the flight of your aeroplane, butterfly, or hawk. Look at the tablet device screen and you can even see the world from the point of view of the animal or plane that you drew!

Crystal Universe

Behold a seemingly infinite number of light points inside the scintillating Crystal Universe bringing you into an illusion of stars moving in space. Change the fabric of the universe with the smart devices within the installation.

Canvas Light

Located at The Shoppes, Marina Bay Sands, Canvas Light is also brought to you by teamLab where you can wander into a nature-based adventure and explore an ecosystem of flora and fauna, in an immersive and interactive space. Tickets start at $12 per person, so do drop by when visiting Future World.
