2024 School and Public Holidays
1. School Holidays 2024
Primary 1, Kindergarten 1 and secondary school students at Ministry of Education (MOE) schools will begin the 2024 school year on 2 Jan 2024. Students in Kindergarten 2 and from Primary 2 to 6 will report to school a day later on 3 Jan 2023.
The school holidays in 2024 for Primary & Secondary schools are
- March Holidays: 9 Mar - 17 Mar 2024
- June Holidays: 25 May - 23 Jun 2024
- September Holidays: 31 Aug - 8 Sep 2024
- Year-end Holidays: 16 Nov - 31 Dec 2024
There will also be four scheduled school holidays for the 2024 school year: Chinese New Year 4th Day, Youth Day, Teachers’ Day and Children’s Day.
- Chinese New Year 4th Day: 12 Feb 2024 will be a public holiday and Tue, 13 Feb 2024 will be a school holiday and a designated day off-in-lieu.
- Youth Day: 30 Jun 2024 (The following Mon 1 Jul will be a school holiday)
- Teachers' Day: 30 Aug 2024
- Children's Day: 4 Oct 2024
For those in Primary School, you will also want to take note of the PSLE dates. Primary schools are on holiday over the PSLE Marking Days and there might be other closures / half-days during the other exam dates.
2. School Calendar 2024
The school calendar for primary and secondary schools in 2024 are as follows
- Term 1: 2 Jan - 8 Mar 2024
- Term 2: 18 Mar - 24 May 2024
- Term 3: 24 Jun - 30 Aug 2024

3. Public Holidays 2024
The following are the Public Holidays for 2024.
- New Year’s Day, 1 January 2024
- Chinese New Year*, 10 – 12 February 2024
- Good Friday, 29 March 2024
- Hari Raya Puasa, 10 April 2024
- Labour Day, 1 May 2024
- Vesak Day, 22 May 2024
- Hari Raya Haji, 17 June 2024
- National Day, 9 August 2024
- Deepavali, 31 October 2024
- Christmas Day, 25 December 2024
*Monday, 12 February 2024 will be a public holiday since Chinese New Year falls on a Saturday. Also Tuesday, 13 February 2024 will be a school holiday and a designated day off-in-lieu. Schools will be closed, including the General Office, Student Care Centres and Kindergarten Care (KCare) Centres.
4. Maximise Your Holidays in 2024
There will be FIVE long weekends in 2024, according to the list of gazetted public holidays announced by the Ministry of Manpower.
2024 Long Weekends
- 30 Dec - 1 Jan: New Year's Day
- 10 - 12 Feb + 13 Feb (Sch Holiday): Chinese New Year
- 29 - 31 Mar: Good Friday
- 15 - 17 Jun: Hari Raya Haji
- 9 - 11 Aug: National Day
Deepavali in 2024 falls on a Thursday. You can make it a long weekend if you take a day's leave on Friday, Nov. 1.
2025 School and Public Holidays
1. School Holidays 2025
The school year for 2025 for all MOE primary schools (including MOE Kindergartens) and secondary schools will start on Thursday, 2 January 2025 and end on Friday, 21 November 2025. Do also note that Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 will start school on Thursday, 2 January 2025. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 will start school on Friday, 3 January 2025.
The school holidays in 2024 for Primary & Secondary schools are
- March Holidays: 15 Mar to 23 Mar
- June Holidays: 31 May to 29 Jun
- September Holidays: 6 Sep to 14 Sep
- Year-end Holidays: 22 Nov to 31 Dec
There will also be four scheduled school holidays for the 2024 school year: Youth Day, Teachers’ Day and Children’s Day.
- Off-in-lieu for Hari Raya Haji: 9 Jun 2025 (subject to confirmation)
- Youth Day: 6 Jul 2025 (The following 7 Jul will be a school holiday)
- Off-in-lieu for National Day: 11 Aug 2025
- Teachers' Day: 5 Sep 2025
- Children's Day: 3 Oct 2025
