While the country's borders remained closed in the meantime, we can still plan a day trip for a short getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city! Here are some places that are ideal for families for a day trip!

1. Cameron Highland

Located 150km away from Kuala Lumpur, it takes about 3 hours for you to escape the heat and enjoy yourself with pleasantly cold weather.

One of the most notable landmarks everyone should visit is the tea plantations. Sip on a cup of warm tea accompanied by the lush green terraces. You can also make a tour to the strawberry farms, rose gardens, as well as butterfly and honeybee farms.

2. Kuala Selangor

Kuala Selangor is a small coastal town in Selangor and only takes about 30 minutes to travel from KL city center.  Sasaran Beach or more commonly known as Sky Mirror is one of a unique tourist attraction accessible during the new moon and full moon periods. It is also home to the largest firefly colony in the world, which creates an amazing scene every night. The best way to view the fireflies is on a relaxing boat tour up the Selangor river with a local guide, who will give you lots of information about the area.

If amazing scenery isn't enough for you, you may also indulge yourself in some seafood at the local Chinese restaurant. Some of them even have a sea view. Pick the best for yourself and enjoy cheap and fresh seafood!

People flock here because they have something to offer for everyone at any age. Elderly love to go the casino, adults shop at Genting Premium Outlet while kids can enjoy themselves in the indoor theme park. Not to mention, everyone went to Genting for the cooler weather and luscious mountain view.

4. Fraser's Hill (Bukit Fraser)

Fraser’s Hill is a highland resort destination nestled among the mountains of Pahang, located two hours away from Kuala Lumpur. Locally known as Bukit Fraser, this cooling holiday retreat is popular for its nature activities and cooling climate, being one of the last hill stations of Malaysia, an imprint by former British colonial masters. Fraser's Hill enjoys a well-preserved landscape teeming with lush greenery and the buildings are all constructed as well as well-maintained in old European architecture. Take a stroll at the cobblestone streets with some of the shops selling French bakeries and souvenirs. If you are up for more walking, there are a lot of different trails with countless of waterfalls along the way.
