Car-Free Sunday Returns to the Civic and Central Business Districts in 2024

Roads around the Civic and Central Business Districts will be closed on 17 March 2024 as Car-Free Sunday makes a return in 2024!

Car-Free Sunday is a popular event pre-covid where roads around the Civic and Central Business Districts are closed with activities and performances filling up the streets for everyone's enjoyment! 

Promoting Singapore’s car-lite goal by creating greater public awareness of the benefits of walking, cycling and riding public transport as sustainable ways to travel, Car-Free Sunday returns on 17 March 2024, and here's what you can expect!  

In A Nutshell

From 8am to 2pm on 17 March, families who visit the 2 main event spaces along St Andrew’s Road and Esplanade Drive, can participate in various activities put together by LTA and partners. From games to inline skating and aeromodelling, there will be activities catered to visitors of different ages. 

Designated roads will also be closed to traffic from 8 am to 11 am to allow visitors to walk, run or cycle on these roads too! 

Immersive Exhibition

Journey through the “Corridor of Possibilities”, an immersive exhibition about creating vibrant and active community spaces that are also conducive for pedestrians and cyclists. 

Try out Interactive Games and Activities

Participate in games to learn about safe path and road sharing practices. Try your hands (and feet) at outdoor activity stations to put your riding skills to the test. 

Keen on inline skating, skateboarding and new sports such as aeromodelling, korfball and parkour? You can try out these family-centric activities organised by the Health Promotion Board and SportSG’s partners!

Play On the (Closed) Roads

Visitors can also look forward to the Singapore Really Really Free Market, which fosters a sharing and caring community.

There will also be a chill-out area where families can take a break from all the fun! Look forward to the nostalgic Milo van, as well as refreshments and food options available for purchase from the Goodburger Food Truck.

Singapore Fashion Runway 

Singapore Fashion Runway (SFR) has designed a special Active Mobility collection that will be launched at event. These include T-shirts, bucket hats, sling bags and zip pouches which will be modelled by SFR youths and available for purchase.

Dates and Times

Happening on Sunday, 17 Mar 2024, the event spaces at St Andrew’s Road and Esplanade Drive will be available from 8 am to 2 pm while designated roads in the Civic and Central Business Districts will be closed from 8 am to 11 am.
