CNY Family FUN - Celebrate Chinese New Year with Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Chinese Orchestra

Soak in the Chinese New Year vibes and celebrate SINGAPO人 culture at the upcoming CNY Family FUN co-organised by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) on the 26 till 28 Jan 2024! 

Engaging Traditions

The theme for the event is “Engaging Traditions” and there will be 12 interactive activities specially curated for families, children and seniors at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Conference Hall to encourage families to engage with CNY traditions!

Expect games, performances, workshops and craft activities designed for families and suitable for all ages at CNY Family FUN. Highlights include a thrilling puzzle hunt, opera performances and indulging in traditional snacks from various dialect groups.

Programmes

• Spring Bazaar (26 - 28 Jan, 12 pm to 8 pm) with 40 local booths selling handmade crafts, unique fashion collectibles, favourite CNY goodies and an Old Chang Kee food truck
• BeLONG’s Art Playground, relive your childhood and explore Singapore’s unique CNY customs in a fun and colourful playground inspired by our local HDB playgrounds
• Rhapsodies of Spring 2024, a concert by SCO which captures the spirit of the dragon with music pieces like “Dragon” and “Spring Returns SG”

Activities

• "Nian" is Coming (26 Jan at 7 pm, 27 to 28 Jan at 12.45 pm, 3.45 pm and 6.45 pm): watch out for hidden performers who will surprise you and your little ones with an interactive presentation of the folktale of Nian! 

• Illuminated Dragon Dance (26 & 28 Jan at 8 pm, 27 Jan at 8.20 pm): catch this unforgettable symphony of lights and motion as skillful performers bring a LED dragon to life on the Roof Garden! 
• A Spring Portrait (27 & 28 Jan, 12 pm - 7 pm, from $18 per pax) let's your family dress up in traditional clothing like the hanfu to create unforgettable portraits with your family! 

• Lucky Hunt for Wealth* (27 & 28 Jan, 12 pm - 6 pm, $8 per booklet) is a treasure hunt where you will put your problem solving skills to test and solve challenges to reach the prize! 

• Walking with BeLONG (26 - 28 Jan, 7.30 pm, $5 per pax) brings you on a stroll through SCO and SCCC with engaging storytellers sharing tales of Chinese New Year! 

*Recommended for 6 years old and up with parents guidance. 

Workshops 

• Little Dragon Tamer (28 Jan at 2.30 pm, 3.15 pm and 4 pm) is a hands-on experience for little ones to learn the basics of traditional dragon dance and practise rhythmic steps and coordinated movements.
