Defence Collective Singapore (DCS) commemorates the 40th year of Total Defence (TD), with a host of special exhibitions and engaging family-themed programmes at both Singapore Discovery Centre and Singapore Navy Museum.
Go On A Hero Adventure
From 22 January to 17 March 2024, the special exhibition titled ‘Total Defence For Thee!’ champions our defence story, highlighting our journey over the last four decades. It underscores the importance of inspiring visitors to take action to prepare for future challenges.
Taking the form of a role playing adventure, families can engage with interactive elements that showcase how TD is integral to addressing evolving threats and challenges. Pick up a game card and start your journey around the centre - solving clues before engaging the final exhibition!
Zone 1 - Character Building
Explore the history of Total Defence where everyday citizens brave challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic and resource shortages. Witness the six pillars of TD – Economic, Psychological, Social, Military, Civil, and Digital Defence – in action, then test your mettle against interactive threats. From Perplexing Pandemics to Digital Dangers, discover how you too can be a champion of Total Defence!
The player will answer various question to determine your character you play in the game - much like in roleplaying games, there will be the strength warrior, charismatic witch, all-knowing paladin and more!
Zone 2 - Roll for Initiative
After picking your character, you can enter this interactive maze, making choices at checkpoints to choose your path. Unravel the story not just through physical twists and turns, but also through a captivating digital layer that extends the experience beyond the maze walls. Remember, there's no single right path to victory!
Zone 3 - The Critical Role
Here, you will be asked thought-provoking questions about Total Defence. You can also create your own hero on the digital screen and make a pledge to the cause to get a badge!
There is also great photo spot that can only be created if you work together!
Free Laser Tag
Happening on 2 weekends (27 - 28 Jan and 17 & 18 Feb) at the Singapore Discovery Centre, gear up for a thrilling training session designed to test your skills and teamwork at the Laser Tag arena! Navigate a challenging obstacle course that pushes your physical and mental limits before facing off in an exciting laser tag battle.
Carnival Games
On the same 2 weekends, families will also find a carnival with games that represents each pillar of Total Defence! Free to play with prizes to be won at the end too!
Dates and Time
The special exhibition at Singapore Discover Centre will be available during opening hours from now till 17 March.
There will also be a smaller TD Showcase at the Singapore Navy Museum
from 7 February to 17 March 2024. An abridged mobile exhibition will be featured at schools and educational institutions to engage with student groups, and finally, there will be a TD Exhibition at the TD Convention scheduled for April 2024.
