What is happening?
The oldest museum in Singapore, the National Museum of Singapore is celebrating its 132nd anniversary this weekend and they’re inviting you to join in the celebrations with an array of family-friendly activities.
You can catch a live, interactive performance about a trader’s experience, which beginning at the Rotunda, will bring you on a journey to the exhibition. To learn more about the ages-old building housing the museum, you can register for the building tour, suitable for kids above 7 years old. However, do note that spaces are limited, you can either pre-register online or register on-site from 10 am for a spot.
Get hands-on with your kids and try making a cabochon magnet, featuring iconic artefacts from ‘An Old New World’ exhibition, and check out the An Old New World Marketplace, inspired by scenes from old port cities, with antique collectibles, tea and spices. There will also be stalls in the Bus Bays offering food and beverages to quench your hunger.
You can also try your hand at decorating a cupcake at the concourse when you make a recommended donation of $2.
While you’re there, check out the Weapons of the New World by Caesars, where you’ll be able to get up and close with exclusive replicas of European weapons from the 17th to 19th century!
