Step into a classroom-themed exhibition filled with giant cardboard canteen-inspired stalls, and enjoy a variety of activities perfect for all ages

The annual youth festival held by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre is back with its fifth edition of REMIX: SINGAPO人Youth Takeover. With the theme ‘Back to School,’ the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre will be transformed into a school-like environment that will take you back to the good old days of school.

The festival offers art, dance, food, play, and performances for families to enjoy. Check out the event details below!

Free Activities to Enjoy!

1. Recess Time

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Concourse, Level 1
Date: 18 - 20 October 2024
Time: 11am - 8pm

Every student’s favorite school period is recess time! With SCCC’s ‘Chi He Wan Le Recess Time’, you can enjoy activities like buying food from your favorite canteen stalls and bonding with friends over a variety of fun-filled activities.

Look forward to seeing the canteen-inspired stalls that will make you miss your school days even more.

2. Cardboard Classroom Exhibition

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Multi-Purpose Hall, Level 7
Date: 18 - 27 October 2024
Time: 11am - 8pm

Show off your best pose at the classroom-themed exhibition that features giant cardboard structures. You can meet a 3-metre-tall graduation bear, a 4-metre-long paper airplane, a large protractor and an eraser see-saw, all created by local cardboard sculpture artist, Bartholomew T, in collaboration with students from Singapore Polytechnic. This will be a perfect photo spot for you!

Don’t forget to look closely at the sculptures, as they incorporate local Chinese elements such as childhood songs and idioms. The exhibition encourages youths to write their thoughts and express their hopes for a cleaner and greener planet.

3. RE:MIX The Dance 2K24

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Concourse, Level 1
Date: 19 October 2024
Time: 11am - 6pm
Pre-registration required for interested dancers

Anticipate the amazing performances from individual youths competing in a street dance competition, where they will showcase their moves to live Chinese drum music. Groups are also encouraged to draw inspiration from Chinese heritage and culture in their dance showcases.

4. Tertiary Feature (Workshops & Performance)

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Concourse, Level 1
Date: 20 October 2024
Time: 1pm - 5pm

Featuring music by TENG Company, this workshop invites you to dance along to TENG’s track ‘Empowered’ and learn moves from various dance genres, conducted by dance clubs from local Institutes of Higher Learning.

5. Fight Back to School

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre
Registration: Level 7 Foyer
Date: 19 & 20 October 2024
Time: 12pm - 7pm
Free, pre-registration required

Show off your detective skills and solve the case by participating in the unique escape game, where you’ll need to hunt for clues and hints throughout the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre building!

Paid Activities to Join!

1. Cardboard Robotics Workshop

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Board Room, Level 11
Date: 19 & 20 October 2024
Time: 1pm - 2:30pm | 3pm - 4:30pm | 5pm - 6:30pm 
Admission: $5 per pax. Refundable upon attendance onsite

Take your kids to learn how to create their own cardboard robots and bring home a Kaki Confucius robot! The workshop will be conducted in both English and Mandarin by Singapore Polytechnic.

2. KOLs Workshop: Where Positivity Begins

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Creative Box, Level 6
Date: 19 & 20 October 2024
Time: 11:30am - 8pm (1 hour duration for each session)
Admission: $5 per pax

Discover how to leverage social media to make a positive impact, advocate for the causes you care about, and influence the lives of other young people in this workshop conducted by local KOLs Sky, Anna En and Annette Lee! 

The workshop will be conducted in English, Mandarin and Dialect.
