RSAF55 Open House Includes Flights On Military Aircrafts and More

As part of its 55th anniversary celebrations, the Republic of Singapore Air Force will give the public an opportunity to experience a flight on military aircrafts and more.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) open house will offer families the opportunity for rides on the Chinook helicopter and Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT). 

These Familiarisation Flights will be taking place during the RSAF55 Open House on 9 and 10 Sep 2023 at Paya Lebar Air Base - the first physical open house in seven years! 

Flight Opportunities on Military Aircrafts

Families can also take a Familiarisation Flights on the C130 transport aircraft, the Fokker 50 aircraft; and the Singapore Youth Flying Club’s DA40 trainer aircraft. The aircraft will fly along the eastern and southern parts of Singapore, and passengers may be able to see islands to the south of Singapore.

In total, families can take a ride on the RSAF's A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), Fokker 50, C-130, CH-47 helicopter, as well as Singapore Youth Flying Club's DA40. Do note that no tickets will be available on-site on the event day except for the 3 pairs of tickets that can be won from the leaderboard challenge at the RSAF55 Open House.

Balloting from 20 July 2023

From 20 July 2023 at 12 pm, Singaporeans and permanent residents will be able to ballot for flight tickets through FormSG. The link to the ballot form will be available on the RSAF’s social media channels for five weeks until noon on 22 Aug 2023. Each person is entitled to 1 ballot chance for up to 4 tickets.

The public can also take part in social media giveaways and contests held on the RSAF’s Instagram page and YouTube channel. 

All valid applications will go through an electronic balloting system, with the date, time and aircraft type randomly allocated. Results of the ballot and giveaway will be announced at the end of August.

Take note that participants are required to wear covered shoes. Crocs, slippers, sandals are not allowed for safety reasons. You are also advised not to wear loose clothing that are likely to get caught between parts or impede movement. It is also advisable not to bring bulky items on-board the familiarisation flight such as large bags.

For 5 Years Old and Above

Those who wish to board the flights must be at least five years old and a metre tall.

Also those with mobility issues that may affect their movement during an emergency, those with any pre-existing heart or lung conditions, and those who are pregnant will not be allowed on the flights.

The RSAF55 Open House features interactive exhibitions throughout the day, interspersed with exciting live programmes. Look forward to capability demonstrations like the aerial capability display as well as virtual black knights. Get the chance to get up-close and personal with the air force assets and personnel at the static displays.

Families can also have fun at the carnival games at the open house too! There will also be performances by the SAF Central Band and the Music and Drama Company.

There are also food and refreshments available in the Dining & Performance Hall with food trucks throughout the RSAF55 Open House fairground.

The Digital Experience and Gifts To Be Redeemed

Families can experience the RSAF55 Open House before the event! Simply sign up for a user account and try out the activities available such as the use of AR Cam to view the AR aerial display from your phones, as well as participate in pre-event missions to start earning Digital Coins and Experience Points (XPs) even before the event.

With the coins and XPs, you will be able to redeem gifts such as CPT Ted Bear and rewards such as fast passes at the RSAF55 Open House!

*You can still go to the event without the user account but will miss out on the many benefits. 

Photo Opportunities 

The team at the RSAF55 has identified photo spots for good photos such as the (1) Welcome Arch with the MRTT after the security checkpoint, (2) identified spots at the static display area, and (3) trick-eye and cut out photo displays located around the fairground and exhibition halls.

Venue and Date

The RSAF55 Open House takes place at the Paya Lebar Air Base on 9 and 10 September 2023. Opening hours are from 8.30am to 6pm, and the operating hours are from 9am to 6pm. 

hile the exhibition halls and other attractions only open at 9am, visitors are welcome to arrive at the fairground from 8.30am to view the RSAF's assets at the Static Display area.

Getting to the RSAF55 Open House

Parking is not allowed the air base and families may choose the following options, (1) Free shuttle service, (2) Public bus service, (3) Taxi/Private Hire Vehicle (PHV), and (4) Walk-ins from Airport Road.
