Here's our weekly list of family fun to-dos to help you create lots of fun times with the kids! And just like that, we are coming to the end of the 1st month of 2024 - how quickly this has pass! With further ado, let's look at the fun that you can expect to create with your family this week!

1. Artbox Happens Over 2 Weekends

Venue: Singapore Expo Hall 2

Singapore’s largest indoor all-day night festival, ARTBOX, marks its comeback this January 2024 with ARTBOX AVENUE. Covering 105,000 sqft at Singapore Expo Hall 2, the event ingeniously recreates an immersive tapestry of bustling streets, showcasing an explosive fusion of global street culture. Spanning two consecutive weekends from 26 to 28 January 2024 and 2 to 4 February 2024, this instalment promises an even grander spectacle – ARTBOX AVENUE will be 50% bigger as compared to its 2023 edition.

Having garnered immense acclaim last year with over 60,000 enthusiastic visitors, ARTBOX is amplifying next year's iteration with Singapore's wackiest content publisher, SGAG, as its co-organiser for the second consecutive year, ensuring a seamless fusion of vibrant creativity and engaging experiences for attendees.

2. Free Sports Classes with Decathlon

Everyone knows Decathlon as the place to go to for the your sports needs, but did you know that they also provide free sports classes for kids and adults too?

Coming up over the next few weeks are classes that will introduce you and your little ones to KpopX Fitness, Basketball, Frisbee and more. So if you are looking to keep up your exercise routine, learn a new sport, and not break the bank, do check out these free classes happening at Decathlon!  

3. CNY Family FUN with Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

Venue: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Conference Hall
Dates: 26 - 28 Jan 2024
Admission: Free with paid activities

Soak in the Chinese New Year vibes and celebrate SINGAPO人 culture at the upcoming CNY Family FUN co-organised by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) on the 26 till 28 Jan 2024! 

The theme for the event is “Engaging Traditions” and there will be 12 interactive activities specially curated for families, children and seniors at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Conference Hall to encourage families to engage with CNY traditions!

Expect games, performances, workshops and craft activities designed for families and suitable for all ages at CNY Family FUN. Highlights include a thrilling puzzle hunt, opera performances and indulging in traditional snacks from various dialect groups.

4. Grab These Cute Sanrio Characters Coin Bank from 7-Eleven

Stamp Collection Period: 17 January to 12 March 2024
Redemption Period: 17 January to 20 March 2024

Usher in the Lunar New Year with fan-favourite Sanrio characters as they make a comeback with 7-Eleven’s latest Shop and Earn Stamps Programme! 7-Eleven has launched a new collection of eight coin banks featuring the beloved Sanrio characters – Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Ahiru no Pekkle and many more. This new range is available at 7-Eleven stores across Singapore! 

These adorable Sanrio Coin Banks make money-saving enjoyable and double up as lucky charms that can bring you prosperity and good luck. Each coin bank comprises a Sanrio character holding a golden coin symbolising good fortune! These individually designed coins are detachable and imprinted with unique patterns of the Sanrio characters’ best buddies.

Stamps programme mechanics:

  • Receive one stamp upon a $5 purchase at any 7-Eleven store.
  • Redeem one blind box containing a Sanrio Coin Bank with every six stamps collected and a top-up of $10.90, or 500 YUU points and a top-up of $10.50.
  • Selected 7-Eleven products will earn you an additional stamp.

5. Visit the Newly Reopened Central Public Library 

Venue: Central Public Library, 100 Victoria Street, National Library Building, B1, Singapore 188064
Opening Hours: 10 am - 9 pm
Admission: Free

The National Library Board’s (NLB) Central Public Library reopens, transformed with an array of new features that incorporate Singapore stories on culture, heritage, and literature, as well as curated resources on sustainability, marine biodiversity and conservation. Themed Singapore: Kaleidoscope, the Central Public Library welcomes patrons of all ages to learn and discover in two key areas: All Things Singapore and Sustainability and Biodiversity. 

Located in the National Library Building in Singapore’s Civic District, the transformed Central Public Library is the heart and hub of Singapore stories, providing access to brand new facilities, services and offerings. For families, you can expect a refreshed children’s section, which brings the wonders of biodiversity – with a focus on marine life – closer to young explorers. This is the first marine biodiversity-themed learning space for children at a public library in Singapore
