Step into the incredible world of French film at vOilah! Organised by the Embassy of France and co-presented by Alliance Française de Singapour, Shaw Organisation and The Projector, this milestone edition of the festival pays tribute to the long history of French cinematic excellence. As 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the festival, there has never been a better time to rediscover and reignite a passion for French films.

The Movies Line-Up

This year’s line-up features a total of 36 films comprising those fresh from the box office and the timeless classics that shaped the face of French cinema. The selection includes a rich array of genres —from chart-topping blockbusters, hilarious comedies, blood-pumping adventure tales, wholesome family stories and more. You can choose and decide which one you like!

Headlining this year’s showcase is the masterful retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo. Directed byMatthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière and starring award-winning actors Pierre Niney and Anais Demoustier, this gripping tale of revenge and redemption is one of the most expensive French films ever made and boasts a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Singaporeans will get the opportunity to experience firsthand one of the most successful French films in recent history, which sold over nine million tickets in France alone!

You can also come across other interesting and great movies like Prodigies, Amélie and The 400 Blows, Saint-Exupéry, Robot T-O, and many more! And for parents with kids, you don’t need to worry, as there will also be PG-rated films and animations showing.

Family-Friendly Movies to Watch

In addition to those screened at commercial and independent movie theatres, the festival will partner with People’s Association to organise screenings of PG-rated films and animations at 15 sites including community clubs and integrated community hubs.

Families can look forward to movies such as Epic Tails (Argonuts), an enchanting journey through Ancient Greece by a brave mouse and her feline friend.

Chicken for Linda!, a delightful story about a mother’s determination to cook her daughter a special meal.

And Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia, a heartwarming story about friendship and exploration.

Some animated movies, like Animal Tales of Christmas Magic, The Most Precious of Cargoes, Big Bad Fox and Other Tales, Marona's Fantastic Tale, and Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie, are also available as options for families to choose from.
