Singapore’s National Day is almost upon us. This year, our little red dot is celebrating the 200 years anniversary since the founding of Singapore by Sir Stamford Raffles, which is why this year’s parade will be happening at Padang, where the first National Day Parade was held.
No matter where it’s held, we can count on one thing. A dazzling display of colorful fireworks! The National Day fireworks will still be fired from the Marina Bay area, and here are some places where you can revel in the beauty of the fireworks live for free!
This article is brought to you in collaboration with OCBC Bank.
1. Merlion Park

Location: Fullerton Rd
It’s probably no secret that Merlion Park is one of the best vantage point, providing a clear view of the National Day fireworks, which is probably also why it gets crowded really fast. If your heart’s set on Merlion Park, we suggest getting there early (and we mean really early) to snag yourselves a spot.
2. Bay East Garden

Pack a picnic basket, gather up your family and head down to Bay East Garden where you can enjoy a complete fireworks viewing experience. Snuggle up on a picnic mat, munch on your favorite snacks while feasting your eyes on this year’s stunning display of National Day’s fireworks amidst the green landscape.
3. Esplanade Roof Terrace

Location: Esplanade, 8 Raffles Ave, Singapore 039802
If you ever thought the view from the Esplanade Roof Terrace was stunning, wait till you catch the National Day fireworks there. It’s quite a sight to behold. And we’ll let you in on a secret—the roof terrace is not the only place from where you can view the fireworks, so if it gets crowded in the terrace, don’t worry, you’ve still got plenty of options around our favorite durian building.
4. Esplanade Waterfront

Location: Esplanade, 8 Raffles Ave, Singapore 039802
If going all the way up to the Esplanade Roof Terrace doesn’t sound very attractive, you can also park yourselves at the Esplanade Waterfront. The view is no less stellar here than up top.
5. Stadium Waterfront
Location: Near Stadium MRT
Stadium may not be where all the happenings are at but that doesn’t mean that you won’t get a wonderful view of the National Day’s fireworks here. Consider the Stadium Waterfront for a clear and jostle-free view of the fireworks.
6. The Promontory

Location: 11 Marina Blvd, Singapore 018940
Not only is The Promontory @ Marina Bay, with its tranquil waterfront location, an ideal place for a leisurely stroll, it is also where you can indulge in an amazing and unobstructed view of the National Day’s fireworks.
7. Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza

Location: Marina Bay Sands, 10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956
Settle yourselves at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza for a perfect view of the pretty National Day’s fireworks lighting up wide sky. While the event plaza makes for a comfortable spot, it is another place that fills up just as quickly as Merlion Park. In other words, you’ve got to find a spot and camp out (we don’t mean staying there overnight, just being earlier than early).
8. Marina Bay Sands Waterfront Boardwalk

Location: Bayfront
The sight of the scintillating fireworks glinting off the waters below at the Marina Bay Sands Waterfront Boardwalk is of a beauty that cannot be captured by pictures, it’s something that you’ve got to experience.
9. Marina Barrage

Location: 8 Marina Gardens Dr, Singapore 018951
Here’s another place where you can spread out a mat and enjoy a leisurely picnic with your family as the National Day’s fireworks hit the sky. A fair warning though, the view from up here is slightly obstructed.
10. Helix Bridge & Benjamin Sheares Bridge

Location: Marina Bay
The Helix and Benjamin Sheares Bridge are two of the top spots to hit up if you want to capture the picturesque fireworks exploding in the sky for your Instagram. And that’s why you can expect a huge crowd at both places.
If you’re travelling with really young kids, little ones in strollers, or if you just don’t like being jolted about, we would suggest giving a pass to both bridges.
11. Jubilee Bridge

Location: Esplanade Dr.
Another bridge from where you can catch the National Day’s fireworks. Jubilee Bridge is a favorite location for many looking for an unhindered view of the fireworks, which means if you want to enjoy the view from this locale (we’re sure you know where we’re going with this by now), you’re going to have to be extra extra early.
National Day Rehearsal
If you can’t wait till National Day (or if you think there will be less crowd), you may enjoy some of the performances, aerial displays and fireworks during the rehearsals!
