15 Date Night Ideas for Married Couples

Dating your spouse after marriage does not just help keep the romance alive, it also helps you to build a deeper connection with them. And of course, it’s fun, which is why you shouldn’t stop dating your spouse, even after you have kids.

A date could be you in sweatshirt and pants, leaning on your spouse, simply enjoying their company when the kids are asleep, or it could be dressing up to indulge in high tea together at a ritzy hotel.

Date Night Ideas

Put your little ones to sleep or leave them with someone trustworthy, here are some date night ideas to put to use.

  • Catch up over a cup of coffee. Sit down in coffee shop with your choice of caffeine boost and just chat with each other.

  • Get cozy for a movie night. Snuggle up on the couch to watch a movie you both love.

  • Cook dinner. A romantic dinner doesn’t always has to be a fancy affair, it could simply be getting the ingredients, preparing and making dinner together.

  • Go hiking. If you and your spouse are up for a bit of an exercise and love nature, Singapore’s got quite a few hiking trails you can explore. Macritchie Reservoir, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Windsor Nature Park are just some of the places.

  • Take a leisurely stroll hand in hand. It doesn’t have to be somewhere far away from home, it could just be at the neighbourhood park or even around your block.

  • Test your thrill tolerance. If you have young kids, you probably passed over the really exhilarating rides at the theme park. Why not go back try them out with your loved ones?

  • Challenge your partner to a match. Your choices are bountiful, there’s golf, bowling, pool, badminton, board games, arcade games, video games, and so on.

  • Take a perfumery workshop. Or a sculpting workshop, anything that interests the both of you, you don’t have to be good at it.

  • Go picnicking. Pack a picnic basket with munchies like sandwich, fruits, nuggets, anything you like really and head down to your favorite park. All that’s left to do is spread out a mat and chill out for the day/evening.

  • Camp out under the starry night. Pulau Ubin is a great spot for camping out. Pick out a spot, pitch your tent, maybe get a little campfire going to roast some marshmallows and even sing some duets as you gaze up at the stars.

  • Scale a wall. You can go rock climbing, not only is it fun, it also helps you to build trust with your loved one.

  • Try out a martial arts class. Not only is it beneficial and you learn more about your partner, it also adds spice to your relationship! (And it’s also an ideal outlet to let all that pent up frustration go)

  • Volunteer together. Whether it’s picking up litter at the beach, befriending elderlies or helping out at a food drive, you can do it together.

  • Get fancy for a dinner date. Dress up in fancy clothes and dine in at a fancy restaurant. Sometimes, it feels great to look and feel fancy, be it for yourself or for your spouse.

  • Hit up a spa. You can take a refreshing dip at a Japanese onsen or get all your knots massaged out with a couple’s massage. Armed with some skincare products, you could even pamper yourselves at home.
