Pinocchio will be released on Disney+ on 8 Sep 2022
The beloved tale of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet that wants to be a real boy gets retold in this live action musical adaptation of the 1940 animated film of the same name.
Just Like The Storybooks
In an Italian village, the wooden puppet Pinocchio is brought to life by the Blue Fairy. All he ever-wants is to be a real boy - but life throws him many temptations to steer him off his path. Catch Pinocchio to follow his adventures as he strives to become a real boy.
Most of the plot follows the story that we have heard as children. From going to circus to almost becoming a donkey - even how his nose grows when he tells a lie. However, the 111 min film does feel like it was moving quickly through the different parts of the story and not enough time was given to build on the characters.
Did he become a real boy in the end? That is up to you to find out!
Star Studded Cast
Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the woodcarver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his real son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his "conscience"; Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is "Honest" John; Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is The Coachman.
The film blends live action and CGI, with such live-action characters as Geppetto, The Blue Fairy, The Coachman, Stromboli, the Schoolteacher and Headmaster, among others, along with the animated characters Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, “Honest” John and Sofia the Seagull.
