Tiny Away Escape @Lazarus Island | Sentosa X Big Tiny To Launch New Low-Carbon "Tiny Houses" For Short-Term Stays!

The new compact ecotourism accommodation units, along with amenities and leisure activities be opened in phases from April 2023.

Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) has announced that it will be collaborating with Big Tiny - the first Singaporean company to integrate the concept of “tiny houses” with ecotourism - to launch Tiny Away Escape @Lazarus Island. This is part of the new initiative to bring accommodation, amenities, and leisure activities to the Southern Islands for families to discover in phases from April 2023.

Five New Low-Carbon "Tiny Houses"

With just a short 15-minute boat ride from the Sentosa Jetty@Cove, SDC seeks to extend the Sentosa getaway through the launch of these five new "tiny houses". These "tiny houses" are the first accommodation units to be built on Lazarus Island for short-term stays, allowing families to discover a new experience in the idyllic Southern Islands. Families can have access to almost 128 hectares of natural landscapes to explore on the connected islands of Seringat, Lazarus, St John’s and Kias.

Measuring between 150sqft and 170sqft, the accommodation will be equipped to function in line with sustainable practices to reduce carbon footprint, such as:

• Use Of Solar Energy As The Main Source Of Power

This supported by the grid as a source of back-up for contingency. Energy-efficient electrical appliances are also installed to reduce the overall power usage.

• High Tech Food Waste Recycling Systems

This is in partnership with local start-up Westcom Solutions to test innovative ways to reduce and recycle food waste from families.

• Sustainable Composite Building Materials

These materials are durable and produced from recycled plastic and wood fibre. At the end of their eventual lifespan, they can be repurposed into composite cladding for the construction of new “tiny houses”.

• Biodegradable Shampoo And Body Wash

These will be provided complimentary to families.

New Amenities & Activities

Other new amenities and activities, which include a convenience store, overnight glamping experiences and non-motorised water activities, will be launched in phases around June 2023.

Currently available are bicycle rentals and the Glasshouse, an air-conditioned multipurpose space which boasts stunning views, providing a unique “out of the boardroom” green MICE experience.
