Tip: Do bring along sunblock and moisturiser as it can get dry and hot during the day

Day 1: Arrival and Settling In

After arriving in Perth, we headed to our accommodation at Southcamp's Cabin House, approximately a 3-hour drive from the airport. This restful retreat provides a cosy space to relax, unwind, and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead.

Day 2: Whale Watching in Dunsborough

Start your second day with a thrilling whale-watching experience in Dunsborough, about a 2-3 hour tour. Check the local schedule as whale sightings vary by season.

Be prepared for a bit of patience – these majestic creatures are worth the wait! Whale watching is an excellent way for kids to learn about marine wildlife and the natural world.

Day 3: Exploring Busselton Jetty

On day three, visit Busselton Jetty, one of the longest wooden jetties in the world, stretching 1.8km into the ocean. Families can take the scenic 20-minute train ride to the end of the jetty and explore the Underwater Observatory, where kids can marvel at the vibrant marine life.

Nearby beaches and playgrounds provide further opportunities for fun and relaxation.

Day 4: Returning to Perth

Day four is reserved for the drive back to Perth (approximately 3 hours). Once back, check into your accommodation in the city and spend the evening at leisure, enjoying a meal or exploring local spots nearby.

Day 5: Wildlife Encounters at Caversham Wildlife Park

Caversham Wildlife Park is a must-visit for families. Located within Whiteman Park, this park allows kids to get up close with Australia’s unique wildlife. Highlights include feeding kangaroos, meeting wombats, and getting a close look at koalas. 

Pro Tip: Look out for wild kangaroos on your way to the park – they often make appearances along the roadside at dawn and dusk.

Day 6: A Day in Fremantle

Wrap up your trip with a day in the vibrant port city of Fremantle. Visit the Fremantle Markets for some local treats and unique souvenirs, then head to the Round House, Perth’s oldest building, where kids can imagine life as it was in the 1800s.

A stop at the Shipwrecks Museum is also a must – this renowned museum offers fascinating exhibits on Australia’s maritime history, letting kids feel like mini pirates exploring the seas. The best part is that all these are free to visit! 

Fremantle also has several family-friendly beaches for a relaxing end to your trip.
