Dedicated to Anpanman, a popular children’s book adapted to animation series, the Yokohama Anpanman Children’s Museum brings you into the world of Anpanman and his friends through its series of interactive exhibits.
Most of the action is on the top most floor of this three-storey museum, at Nakayoshi Town. Here you’ll find dioramas of Anpanman characters, some of which are interactive showcases. Whether you want to enter them, ride them or turn it into a photo opportunity, it’s up to you.
The second floor houses Fureai Town, where there are a few rides and an Anpanman Handicraft Classroom open for little ones to get hands-on and craft Anpanman’s face. Craft sessions are on a first-come first-serve basis and the theme may change.
Wanpaku Town on the first floor has got Rainbow Slides, Anpanman Hill with large Anpanman-faced balls for kids to play with, and the Takashi Yanase (author of Anpanman) Theatre, where you can watch Anpanman and his friends.
The shopping mall area has different stores offering up a variety of goodies from the world of Anpanman, ranging from Anpanman picture books to breads that look like Anpanman characters. There is also a photo studio and a restaurant.
As Anpanman is a well-loved character, especially by little tots, the museum tends to get crowded during the weekends.
The Anpanman Children’s Museum is also located at four other locations in Japan—Sendai Nagoya, Kobe and Fukuoka.
