Hold onto your helmets, folks! Here's a fantastic little gem in Choa Chu Kang that’s perfect for budding cyclists, scooter enthusiasts, and little learners. Prepare to be surprised by the Mini-Road Safety Playground at Choa Chu Kang – it’s not just a playground; it’s a miniature road circuit designed to teach kids about road safety in the most fun way possible!
If you're a fan of themed playgrounds, this one is a must-visit, especially if you've enjoyed other road safety-themed spots like the OG Road Safety Park at East Coast Park or the Mini- Road Safety Kampung Siglap Playground.
Do note that during our visit on 27th December, the playground was open but they were still doing some touch-ups.
A Mini Road Network for Mini Drivers
Nestled in front of Block 208 Choa Chu Kang Central, the playground offers a unique experience. Imagine a scaled-down road system complete with all the markings you’d find on a real road: directional arrows, zebra crossings, stop lines, and even yellow boxes (if you don't know, vehicles are not allowed to stop in the yellow box).
And it doesn’t stop there – you’ll also find the corresponding traffic signs, like the pedestrian crossing sign by the zebra crossing. It’s like a real-life driving school for kids!
Scoot, Pedal, and Learn!
This playground is designed for active learning. Kids are encouraged to bring their bicycles and scooters to navigate the mini roads, putting their road safety knowledge to the test. Parents can join in the fun too, pretending to be pedestrians or even traffic police. It’s a brilliant way to reinforce road safety lessons through play.
We felt it was missing zebra crossing lights and traffic lights which would have made the experience perfect!
More Than Just the Mini-Road Safety Playground
The fun doesn’t end with the road network. Right next door, you’ll find a traditional playground with a slide, swings, and climbing structures. There’s also an exercise corner, a badminton court, and a running track nearby, making it a great spot for the whole family.
Ample seating is also available, so parents can relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. Kids should definitely bring along your bicycles, and scooters. We also highly recommend that you bring along helmets.
Remember to bring along your water bottles, and to slap on the sunscreen and insect repellent too!
