Where else will you find playgrounds with an impressive range of swings, crazy slides and larger-than-life grasshoppers, but in the north of Singapore? If sliding down a giant grasshopper and commanding a battleship seems like your kind of fun, we’ve got just what you need.
Here’s a guide to some of the best playgrounds you can find in the north and by north, we mean the neighbourhoods of Admiralty, Kranji, Woodlands, Sembawang, Yishun, Yio Chu Kang, Seletar, and Sengkang!

1. Marsiling Park Playground

It’s quite hard to miss the large bright butterfly with its ‘wings’ spread wide open at the tranquil Marsiling Park. Rather than insect parts, this butterfly is made up of cargo nets perfect for little climbers. Don’t be disappointed about not being able to see an actual butterfly for, the playground is nearby a Butterfly Corner. If you’re lucky, you might just catch these colorful insects fluttering about!
Aside from the Butterfly Playground, Marsiling Park is also home to two other playgrounds—one is made up of a ropes obstacle course and the other, in addition to the standard play structure with slides, has a line-up of musical instruments. You can join in with your little ones to drum up a storm with the hand drums and xylophone!
2. Vista Park Playgrounds - Woodlands Drive 16

Before there was the Alice in Wonderland playground at Dawson Vista, the OG Alice in Wonderland playground was actually at Vista Park, Woodlands. While the playground is still open to families, it has undergone several revamps and has lost much of its original Alice in Wonderland structures.
Families will find several different play venues offering play options for all ages! Expect swings, slides, climbing structures, obstacle courses and much much more!
3. Woodlands Drive 75 Playground

Another neighbourhood playground is this small turquoise play structure made up of slides and climbing poles. With the markings of a hopscotch game on its padded flooring, little ones have another play option other than climbing up and sliding down.
4. Woodlands Glen Playground

Forget about running away from grasshoppers and ants, at Woodlands Glen, little ones will be running towards these insects! But worry not, for the huge grasshopper and larger-that-it-should-be ant are just play structures.
At the Ant and Grasshopper playground, kids can climb up the grasshopper through a small set of stairs or one of the two fireman poles, and slide down into a ‘patch’ of tall grass, which they can navigate to reach a treehouse. From the treehouse, they can spiral down a tube slide. For the smaller ones, they have the ant with a slide.
5. Fu Shan Garden Playground

Fu Shan Garden has a standard playground, with slides, climbing elements and spring rockers. But if that is not enough to satiate your little ones, there is something else here that might. Lurking within the unsuspecting residential area, is, in fact, a nest of decades-old dinosaur sculptures that kids can crawl under or slide over. The garden also has two newer additions of dinosaurs that little ones can explore.
6. Circle Green Park Playground

The double-domed climbing structure at Circle Green Park with either ignite your desire to conquer or evoke a fear of heights, for the structure is about three-stories high. But the sense of accomplishment and scenic view that’ll greet you at the top might just be worth the climb, despite any fear you or your little ones might have.
If you would rather give it a pass, nearby the climbing structure with its spiral slides, there is a pirate ship themed playground with a variety of slides as well as a colourful play structure with sensory boards that you can check out.
7. Woodlands Waterfront Park Playground

Situated in the heart of Woodlands Waterfront Park, amidst sprawling green pastures is a large playground featuring a series of towering Sky Cabins connected by a Sky Bridge, which is made up of ropes. The playground, which also has a central climbing structure, is more for the older kids. Younger kids will not be left out thanks to the smaller playground beside it, with its own low climbing structures, slides and spring rockers.
8. Dino-themed Water Playground at Causeway Point

Families can expect more fun and excitement in their next visit to Causeway Point with the opening of the Dino-themed wet playground! Located at Level 7 of the mall, the playground includes slides, splashes and water sprouts designed as dinosaurs and more!
The centerpiece of the playground is an Erupting Volcano that erupts with water - splashing water on the kids waiting below! Just like the giant buckets at other popular playgrounds, the kids will definitely get excited about this.
9. Admiralty Park Playground [Inclusive]

With 26 slides, ranging from curved and spiraling tube slides to roller and barrel slides, the Admiralty Park playground is the reigning king of northern parks. Spread across its three play areas—Junior, Adventure and Family—are bridges, mounds, cargo nets, swings, flying fox, and a sand play area to entertain kids of all ages (and by that we also mean the inner child in mummies and daddies).
10. Kampung Admiralty Playground

Kampung Admiralty is a ‘kampung’ that has gone through a contemporary upgrade. This ‘modern kampung’ is a vertical structure that has integrated a wide range of facilities primarily for the aging population in Singapore.
Among the kampung’s facilities, which includes a childcare, lush tropical garden, hawker centre, and healthcare services, is a small play area consisting of a rock climbing mound, climbing nets and a slide.
11. Sembawang Park Playground

Sitting on a huge sandpit, is a colossal battleship, not quite the place where you normally find ships but this one is a wreck. The Battleship Playground at Sembawang Park is an impressive structure with plenty of ropes, nets, slides, and poles, waiting to be explored. There is also a singular pendulum swing beside the ship that is highly addictive.
The battleship theme of the playground is a sort of tribute to the locale that was once home to a naval base with many shipyards.
12. Sun Natura Playground

Sun Natura playground is made up of an eclectic collection of play structures. You’ve got a fairly tall mother ant with a slide coming down the side with mini kiddie ants by the side and algae-like structures with a slightly swirly slide that is good for some climbing action for the tots. Then there is a low playground, a short obstacle course for the older kids and some fitness equipment by the side.

Canberra Park’s large playground has much to explore. The highlight has got to be the swings. With as many different types of swings as there are in the park, from standard swings and bucket seat swings to flower-shaped swing, rope swing and inclusive swings, little ones can easily spend a long time on the swings alone.
If that’s not enough to keep their interest, there is a play area consisting of a ropes obstacle course and a playground with ramps, walkways, slides, monkey bars, among other elements. Unmissable in the large playground is the partially submerged dinosaur fossil, which the tiny tots can run in and out, and around.
14. Sembawang Shopping Centre Playground [CLOSED]

Located on the third level of Sembawang Shopping Centre is Splash Park, a large water play area packed with different kinds of water sprays, jets, fountains, buckets, water cannons, and water mists. Nearby there also free lockers and open shower facilities available.
Aside from the Splash Park, there is a relatively small dry play area with slides, fireman pole and mini climbing wall that little ones can explore.
15. Eastbank @ Canberra Playground

Another playground designed to reflect Sembawang’s naval history is the double-decker steamer at Eastbank @ Canberra. The play area, consisting of decks, a slide, a short climbing wall, is relatively small. Beside the ship are some stilt-like structures connected by ropes with some netting for climbing. It is made to resemble a kelong with their fishing nets.

EastCreek @ Canberra Playground has play structures that invites and encourages little ones to role play. There are two separate blue-roofed play structures with slides, steps and a climbing net designed to look like a spider’s web. Sitting between the two structures is a little boat with a rotatable wheel and binoculars. Close by, there is a small, sheltered space with benches for parents and guardians to keep watch while the kids play. There is also a fitness area beside the playground if you want to burn some energy alongside your little ones as well.

In the residential neighbourhood of Yishun Ring Road is a playground with a rather large and bright colored main play structure. The structure features slides, widgets and plenty of climbing elements.
18. Yishun River Green Playground

On the foot of Block 330 Yishun Ring Road, sits a spacious playground with whimsical features that stimulates one’s imagination. The main feature is a set of wacky-looking Crooked Houses. Twisted into seemingly impossible angles, the houses feature a wobbly bridge, a tall ladder, a curving slide, and climbing knobs. Designed to be a Grocery and Dairy Store, they’re perfect for little ones’ pretend play.
In the middle of the playground is a large web of net for climbing up, a tube slide that’ll bring you down and a rabbit hole to burrow under. The mound upon which the net sits on also has little grooves that tots can make use of to conquer this mini hill.
At the other end of the playground sits a cluster of hammock-like swings hanging at different heights, and set on the ground in between the two are light pads. If you’re visiting after it gets dark, you can step on the light pads to see it light up.
19. Oasis Waterpark @ Nee Soon East

The Oasis Waterpark is a sprawling water park that has got you covered for some refreshing water fun, including the usual water play features such as water mists, fountains, jets, sprays, and buckets. There is also a shallow pool and a mini slide. Facilities at the park includes toilets, showers, nursing rooms, vending machine and shaded sitting areas.
20. Northpoint City Playground

Northpoint City’s splash pad might not be the Wild Wild Wet but kids will love the water slides here. There is a splash bucket as well as different types of water sprays and fountains, to keep the kiddies entertained. Additionally, there is a farm-themed dry play area with farm animals and even a chicken coop.
21. Yishun N8 Park Playground

Located beside HomeTeamNS Khatib and near blocks 809 and 810 on Yishun Ring Road is the Yishun N8 Park, home to colourful playgrounds. That’s right, there is not one but two playgrounds here. One has a standard play structure that is commonly found in a lot of playgrounds, with slides, swings, climbing nets, and a spring rocker.
For more adventures, the other playground has play structures designed to look like tree houses. The colourful tree houses are connected via a rope bridge and at the end of the trail, kids are rewarded with a slide down. There are three similar sets of the play structure – one for the older kids, one set at a lower level for the younger kids to conquer, and another featuring cargo nets. Additionally, the playground also has tunnels, mini trampolines, climbing nets, and low-hanging hammocks for the young ones to explore.
22. Yishun Riverwalk Playground

Yishun Riverwalk has a well-spaced playground, providing plenty of space for energetic little tykes to run around freely. Scattered around different sections that are located side by side are various play structures, from slides, swings and a rotating wheel to mini climbing walls, monkey bars and climbing nets. If your tots love climbing, they will love it here. If running around after your kids is not enough of a workout, there is a fitness station close by that you can check out.
23. Palm Breeze Playground

The outdoor playground at Palm Breeze has most of the features of a standard playground. There are swings, climbing nets, a mini climbing wall, a rope trail, a curly climber, slides, a tic-tac-toe panel, sensory play elements, a bubble window, and a small trampoline. Add all of that and plenty of space to run around in and you have got a happy kid.
24. Lower Seletar Reservoir Park Playground

The scenic Lower Seletar Reservoir Park has a water play area for kids. It’s an open space surrounded by steps from where you can keep watch on your little ones as they frolic at the shallow pool, fountains and water mills. There is also a mini meandering river which, streams down into the main play area with jet sprays sprouting from the ground. It’s a relatively quiet and idyllic spot.
25. The Oval @ Seletar Aerospace Park Playground

Known for its striking black and white colonial buildings that have been refurbished to house charming restaurants and spas, Seletar Aerospace Park is also home to an aviation-themed playground. It consists of a low play structure with short slide, mini climbing net, a small plane and spring rockers for little ones, and a slightly larger play structure with a bigger aeroplane, aside from the usual slide, nets and swing.
The playground, surrounded by lush greenery, also has a giant Ludo board game and a control tower with its own spiral slide.
26. Anchorvale Plains Playground

At 353A Anchorvale Lane, you will find an eye-catching orange dome structure, looking, at first glance, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. However, the structure is in fact inspired by a jellyfish. Connected to the dome are climbing nets and a pole for more climbing. Another fun feature of this playground is the You&Me swing, which allows a parent and toddler to swing together. And when you are swinging, you can be at eye-level with each other. There are also a set of normal swings, see-saw, a rotating wheel, and fitness equipment.
