A visit to the outdoor playground at Clementi Crest is akin to a trip into the well-loved children's fairytale, Hansel & Gretel.
Venue: Blk 445 (Multi-storey Carpark), Clementi Avenue 3, L1, Singapore 120445
Admission: Free
Located at Clementi Crest, this Hansel and Gretel themed outdoor playground is aptly named The Candy Trail, and is one of 2 fairytale playgrounds in the HDB estates. The other is the Alice in Wonderland themed playground at Dawson Vista.
Jump into the story at this free playground found at the ground level of Blk 445 Clementi Crescent and is it a coincidence or a play on words that Blk 445 is also the multi-storey (story) carpark.
Candy-themed Hansel & Gretel Playground
Suitable for children aged 2 to 5 years old, the padded-floor playground is candy-themed with a gingerbread house, a sugar coated slide, lollipops and apple trees! The playground is not huge but it looks really sweet with candies and snacks incorporated into the design of the entire play area.
We also love that it is partially sheltered with slanted beams which provides a cool environment for play and for parents to hide from the sun. However, this is not for rainy days!
Play Elements
The main attraction is the Gingerbread House where children can run around and pretend they are entering the same house that Hansel and Gretel entered in the storybook.
Next to the house is a sugar-coated shoe - a slide in disguise!
Around the play area, you will also find Lollipops that children can swirl, and Apple Trees.
For the climbers and runners, they can test their balance on the mushroom steps and wooden bridge - one side netting and the other side planks!
For those who are extra adventurous, there is the free-swinging wooden plank bridge! Watch out for the witch that is chasing you from behind or whatever your imagination can create!
Our Thoughts
The Candy Trail playground is designed for younger kids, from 2 to 5 yrs old, and that is also why it is not a big playground with limited play elements. While the design and storytelling element are interesting, we do not encourage families to head down just for the playground (unless you have huge Hansel and Gretel fans at home).
Otherwise, it will be nice to drop by if you are in the area for other purposes, especially if you are visiting the nearby Clementi market and food centre, The Clementi Mall or 321 Clementi,.
