National Museum of Singapore To Launch A Series Of Special Programmes, Organised In Conjunction With Its Ongoing Exhibition

This July, families can look forward to exploring Singapore as a traveller's home away from home, through various hands-on craft workshops.

Special Programmes for Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s – 2000s

It’s been a month since the Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s–2000s exhibition has opened, and the National Museum of Singapore (NMS) hopes you’ve enjoyed rediscovering Singapore through the eyes of a traveller! This July, the museum is launching a series of special programmes, organised in conjunction with the exhibition. Here's what you and your little ones can expect:

Building from “Scrap”!

Venue: Perform Room
Date: 15 Jul 2023
Time: 10.30am to 1pm

From hotels with a long history like Goodwood Park Hotel and Raffles Hotel to
the newer integrated resorts such as Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World, be
inspired by these icons and design your own hotel or resort.

Using an assortment of recycled materials, your building can be as abstract or
as experimental as you wish to be. No special skills are required so get
inventive and start building literally from “scrap”!

Age recommendation: This programme is recommended for participants ages 13 and above.

Price includes craft tools and recycled materials for the workshop. The recycled materials provided include cereal boxes, thin carton boxes and a variety of sticks.

Now Boarding Art Jamming Workshops

Express your creativity through different forms of art and crafts with a series of
art jamming workshops that explore different sections of the Now Boarding
exhibition.

Time-Traveller: Revisiting Singapore as a Tourist, 1800s to 2000s

Dates & Times:

  • 18 Nov 2023: 2pm to 4.30pm – Getting Around (Transportation)

Imagine visiting Singapore in the 1800s, 1900s and 2000s. Where would you have stayed or how would you have travelled to and around Singapore? Explore the gallery to get ideas about where people stayed and how they travelled here before translating them into your own travel posters.

Singapore: A feast for the eyes and belly!

  • 23 Sep 2023: 10.30am to 1pm – Eating Out (Coaster making)
  • 7 Oct 2023: 10.30am to 1pm – Sights & Shopping (Kirigami Art)
