Without further ado, let's take a look at the list of new and revamped places in Singapore that cater to the whole family. Here are some new or revamped places to go in Singapore in 2023.

1. KidzWorld at the Singapore Zoo

Replacing the previous family area, the new KidzWorld is a one-hectare space that augments Singapore Zoo’s 50-year heritage of providing children and their families with a living classroom to experience animal encounters and plenty of opportunities for playtime. 

Located at Tram Stop 4, this is a place where learning and fun meet, the experiences have been designed to spark and grow love for animals, wildlife and nature. These range from interactive play, to meeting animals, to a new water maze to dial up the fun. There have been disappointment expressed about the water play being underwhelming, but the venue still excites with its multiple animal interaction experiences! 

2. Bird Paradise and Mandai Wildlife West

Head down to Bird Paradise and walk through Singapore new bird park! The park is divided into different aviaries, and is best enjoyed on foot to soak up the themed landscapes teeming with nature and avian wildlife. Families can expect to get up-close to the birds are encouraged to embark on the walking routes to explore the various aviaries and facilities in the 17-hectare park.

Another exciting addition that opened is the Mandai Wildlife West, just next to the park, this new ungated public area serves as the gateway to Bird Paradise and the upcoming Rainforest Wild where families can enjoy many dining and retail options as well as playgrounds and public artworks

3. The Palawan @ Sentosa

Venue: Palawan Beach, Sentosa

The Palawan @ Sentosa is a 183,000 sq ft new lifestyle destination by the Shangri-La Group and will feature eight new play experiences for families! The attractions include an indoor electric go-kart circuit, an outdoor mini-golf course, a family beach club and more! 

In particular, families might be keen to enjoy a day out at Splash Tribe, Singapore’s premier family-oriented beach club! With a sandcastle-themed play zone, infinity-edge pool, and mouth-watering food, it’s the perfect place for parents and kids to have a day of fun in the sun.

4. Keppel Centre for Art Education

National Gallery Singapore reopens Keppel Centre for Art Education with an entirely refreshed space offering a world of wonder for children to learn about art through play. This popular space for families features new child-centric learning zones and activities that revolve around the theme of Art & Wonder: Nurturing Wonder through Play and Creativity.

The reopened Centre features an immersive learning space comprising seven zones, with stimulating and interactive experiences suitable for children aged 4 – 12. Each zone offers a welcoming and nurturing environment, providing a gateway through which children can be fully immersed in the wonderment of the world of art through play and creativity.

Admission to the Centre is free and it offers a fun learning experience for the entire family to enjoy a day at the Gallery! The Centre also continues to cater to the different physical and learning needs of visitors, with wheelchair-friendly furniture and learning stations of various heights.

5. ActiveSG Swimming Complex@Bukit Canberra

As part of Sport Singapore’s efforts to bring more quality and conducive sporting facilities to the Bukit Canberra community, the new ActiveSG Swimming Complex@Bukit Canberra will feature four swimming pools suited for different needs - a 6-lane sheltered pool, an 8-lane outdoor lap pool (up to 1.8m in depth), a sheltered wading pool and an outdoor fun pool for children. 

In total, there will be four swimming pools located both indoors and outdoors for you to enjoy!

6. HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir and Facilities

Themed as a Waterfront Haven, HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir is the only reservoir-fronting clubhouse in Singapore and offers an unparalleled view of Bedok Reservoir. Nestled within the lush greenery of Bedok Reservoir Park, the barrier-free clubhouse is designed to blend in with nature, offering a relaxing and picturesque clubhouse experience.

The East Villa consist of 10 villas located at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir available for booking by HomeTeamNS members and the public. These full-sized villas are perfect for birthday parties, baby showers, parties, private gatherings and festive celebrations.

There are 4 types of villas available for booking, each villa looks quite similar and we think the main difference is where they are located within the compound and the view that you get. Bookings can be made 3 months in advance via the HomeTeamNS App. 

10. Rink @ Punggol East

If you're looking for an active day out to enjoy with your kids, or even just some time to yourself, Rink @ Punggol East is definitely worth checking out. - the largest roller sports rink in Singapore with over 12,000 sqft of fully sheltered rink space that opened in Apr 2023, this is the perfect place for roller-lovers of all ages, rain or shine.

The rink offers a wide assortment of rollersports equipment, including bicycles, inline skates, scooters, pedal go-karts, and more. There's something for everyone, whether you're an experienced rollerblader or just starting out. Pedal go-karts and scooters are great for the kids. 

Bring your own equipment or take your pick from one of their many selections. 

11. Singapore Navy Museum

The Singapore Navy Museum is a 3-storey museum that showcases the history of the Republic of Singapore Navy and the journey it took to be the modern fighting force today. 

The museum has reopens from it's revamp in Jun 2023 and now boast an improved exhibition space with interactive displays and new programmes for families. Families will also be happy to note that the museum has a new public entrance (previously it was located within the army camp), making it easier for the public to visit!. 

12. Rail Corridor North

The Rail Corridor (North)'s opening marks more than 21km of seamless connectivity for visitors along the Rail Corridor. You can now explore Rail Corridor from opposite Kranji MRT station to Spooner Road – all the way from north to south with this new opening. There are more than 30 access paths to the Rail Corridor, including 12 new ones that have been added to the Rail Corridor (North) to enhance the connectivity with neighbouring communities as well as other green spaces such as the newly completed Kranji-Mandai Park Connector.

The Rail Corridor is open 24/7. However, as it is an important ecological corridor, the Rail Corridor is not lit at night to facilitate nocturnal wildlife movement. Lighting is only provided at certain access points, and at Bukit Timah Railway Station community node. 

13. Punggol Regional Library

Located within One Punggol, Punggol Regional Library has opened its doors to the public on 5 April 2023 with dedicated offerings for children on two levels, as well as new accessible features for persons with special needs. 

With dedicated offerings for children on Levels 1 and 2, the library will serve the needs of the community in Punggol, which has one of the highest proportions of children below five years old in its resident population. Levels 1 and 2 of the library will open daily from 12pm to 9pm, and have dedicated collections and spaces for children of all ages, where they will be able to broaden their learning about the world and develop 21st century skills.

14. SAFRA Choa Chu Kang

SAFRA Choa Chu Kang is a 29,000 sq ft hub that offer something for everyone. The five-storey clubhouse will feature a sheltered swimming pool, sky running track, indoor playground, a range of sheltered sports facilities and more!

The 150m sky running track is linked to Choa Chu Kang Park and offers a scenic views of the KJE making your next family run more interesting. Families will also be excited to know about the sheltered swimming pool that will allow users to have a dip be it rain or shine, surrounded by lush greenery too!

Other facilities include include a rock climbing wall, a bowling alley, an indoor playground and an outdoor amphitheatre that will also play host to live entertainment and mass workouts that the whole family can participate in.

15. Bouncetopia at SAFRA Choa Chu Kang

Not only will you be expecting the brand new SAFRA Choa Chu Kang, you can also expect the 2nd Kiztopia Bouncetopia outlet in Singapore (the other outlet is Bouncetopia VivoCity). 

Children between two to twelve years old can let their inner superhero come to life and immerse themselves in a world of adventure as they make their way through life-sized obstacle courses, high-speed slides, climbing walls, parkour features, and even a bouncy basketball court to shoot some hoops.

At the first Superhero themed battlefield, the adventurous can get their blood pumping and push themselves to the limit at the main highlight - the tallest vertical climb in the park - as they zoom their way down a giant slide into a ball pit frenzy at the speed of light while marveling at Kiztopia Friends in their superhero gear.

SkyPark By Kiztopia @Cineleisure is a cutting-edge dynamic play park offering all-new fun and promises an exhilarating adventure for visitors to Orchard Road. A first-ever collaboration of its kind where the experts in toys and play come together, Toys“R”Us Jewel Changi Airport will house an aviation-themed indoor play park by Kiztopia, Singapore’s mega-indoor kids’ edutainment playground, on its grounds.

The Kiztopia Club occupies 4,500 square feet of space. Kiztopia Club at The Woodleigh Mall is the 3rd Kiztopia Club in Singapore. Kiztopia Clubs are smaller playgrounds offering a more cosy environment. There are 3 other Kiztopia Clubs located at Jurong PointPunggol and as shared above, at Jewel Changi Airport. 

Based on an underwater theme, the 3,000 square feet space offers immersive play concepts including climbing wall features, trampolines, sand pits, heart-pumping slides, and more. Little explorers and deep-sea enthusiasts aged one to ten years old can look forward to an ‘underwater exploration’ as they navigate their way through the play concepts, take a dip into the mega ball pits, and discover the wonders of the ocean at the role-play rooms.

Families can expect 3 different slides at the play space. The blue slides is the most mild and the orange one is very steep. There is also a curling metal slide for those who are looking for extra fun!

19. Tayo Station - Revamps

Buckle up your seatbelts and prepare for a ride through wonder and excitement! Tayo Station, Singapore’s beloved children’s indoor theme playground based on the popular animated series "Tayo the Little Bus", has reopened its doors on 6 September 2023 with a suite of upgraded features, exciting programmes and more! 

Learn all about road safety signs at the Road Safety School, enjoy driving around the expanded Tayo Road Circuit, cruise pass realistic cityscape, complete with pedestrian crossings, traffic lights and bus-stop. Stop at the garage to change a tyre or drop off your car. Check out the neighbourhood map and tag your next trip to Tayo Station!

20. Smart Nation Playscape @ Science Centre Singapore

Jointly developed by the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) and Science Centre Singapore, the Smart Nation PlayScape exhibition seeks to demystify technology and inspire Singaporeans to be curious about future technologies through a series of fun and immersive interactives.

The exhibition also provides an opt-in personalised experience, whereby one could collect digital stamps and snapshots of his/her own PlayScape journey through the various exhibits and get a soft copy of the digital ‘PlayScape Passport’ via email.

The exhibition consists of eight technology zones. Through a series of gamified exhibits and multimedia elements, each zone gives an in-depth yet easy to understand explanation on how the technology came about, how it works, and its importance to Singapore today.

21. New Facilities on Lazarus Island

If you are planning a family visit to Lazarus Island soon, you will be please to find new facilities like a convenience store, a sea sports centre and glamping tents. These facilities have been added to give visitors options and convenience while preserving the island's rustic charm.

Families will also have the option to stay over on the island in comfort! Tiny Away Escape is a group of 5 tiny rooms where families and those who wish to spend a cosy island getaway and having a unique outdoor, yet comfortable experience. Each room is air-conditioned, with rooms suitable for both families and pets too. 

22. Climb @ T3

Climb@T3, managed by The Rock School (TRS) Singapore, is a new sport climbing attraction will open in Changi Airport located at Terminal 3 Basement 3. It will feature an 8-metre-high rock-climbing wall as well as a 12-metre-long boulder wall providing both guided and free-and-easy programmes for climbers of varying skill levels, from as young as two years of age to adult enthusiasts.

Climb@T3’s star attraction is the 8-metre High Wall, spanning Basements 2 and 3. The wall’s nine lanes are each equipped with state-of-the-art auto belay systems, which allow families and friends to climb together even if they do not know how to belay.

Climbers can challenge themselves with over 30 different climbing routes, each ranging in difficulty from beginner to intermediate levels.

23. Trifecta Singapore

Located at the site between Somerset Skatepark and Killiney Road, Trifecta by The Ride Side is a new integrated board sports facility where families will be able to skate, surf, ski and snowboard in Singapore!

Trifecta will allow visitors to skate, surf, ski and snowboard at various arenas inspired by the skate bowls of California, the waves in Bali, and the powdery snow in Japan. The slopes in the snow arena will be powered by the first virtual reality (VR) ski simulator in Asia, first VR ski simulator in Asia, with in-class speed simulation and directional movements to mimic uneven terrain.

While there is no snow, the venue uses an environmentally sustainable approach by using a special surface material that mimics the feel of snow when you ski or skateboard on it.

For surfing in wave pools, technology will be incorporated to generate water columns of 1.5m. For fans of skating, you will be please to know that the skate arena will have the world’s first hybrid skate bowl designed for skateboarding AND surfskating, and will be the first surfskate circuit in Singapore.

24. The Artground @ One Holland Village

The Artground @ One Holland Village is the 2nd space from The Artground offering families with kids between 0 to 9 year old a space to spend time together and to engage with each other through the arts. The play space will be offering drop-in sessions as well as regular arts-based programmes for families.

The Artground @OHV will be offering changing themes for families to drop-in, and for it's opening play installation, the theme is A Curious Garden

So come hop on toadstools, dance with the garden gnomes or hide in the treehouse! Spot the reimagined rocks in a garden and the colourful trail which may take your mind to new places of discovery. Come explore and let your imagination take flight in the arts space at One Holland Village. 

25. Shaw Plaza and Playground

Shaw Plaza is located along Balestier Road and will offer a number of lifestyle and entertainment options for families in the area including an outdoor playground, theatre, dining options and enrichment centres. 

Families should head to level 3 where they will find Sky Terrace, a green outdoor space that include seats and a playground for the little ones to play at. It is outdoors but sheltered, suitable for light drizzles but not when the rain gets super heavy. The playground includes a flying-fox equipment, trampoline, and a Wallhola playground with slides! Wallhola playgrounds are vertical play spaces for the little ones to climb in! 

26. KidzPlay @ SkyGarden at NEX Singapore

Located at the roof-top of NEX, KidzPlay @ SkyGarden is a popular venue with families as it boast both a wet and dry play space for kids. The play space was temporarily closed and a new refreshed playground was reopened in 2023. 

Suitable for 2 to 5 year olds, Pirates' Hangout consist of a pirate ship main play structure where kids can climb up and play pretend! The structure also has 2 short slides for the young ones to slide down safely too! Located next to the Pirate's Hangout, Pirates Sea Adventure is suitable for children between 5 to 12 years old and offers water play options for families looking for a splashing good time! 

27. Gallop Stable @ Downtown East

Gallop Stable @Downtown East opens! Step into the universe of horses, right at the doorstep of D’Resort at Level 1 and get the invaluable opportunity to connect with these incredible animals in a variety of ways! Get the invaluable opportunity to spend time with the horses and ponies in a variety of ways, such as joyrides, stable tours, workshops and more!

28. SkatePark @ Lakeside Garden

Practice your moves and tricks at SkatePark @ Lakeside Garden, at the North area of Jurong Lake Garden, the first skate park in Singapore with a parkour park and bouldering wall. 

At nearly 17,000m2, this is also the biggest outdoor skate park in Singapore. Designed with inputs from sporting communities, this skate park has five skate pods catering to different skill levels! It features five skate pods catering to skaters of varying skill levels – Learn to Skate Pod, Skate Drain Pod, Mini Bowl Pod, Big Bowl Pod and Plaza Pod, which is sheltered for all-weather use. 

Not just for skaters! SkatePark @ Lakeside Garden also comprises a 300m2 parkour park with a 3 m-high bouldering wall.

29. KPMG Wellness Garden at East Coast Park

A collaborative project between NParks and KPMG Singapore, the KPMG Wellness Garden at East Coast Park is the first new multigenerational Wellness Garden in the East boasts four themed sections, including a therapeutic garden, a nature playgarden, a nature fitness area and a pond trail.

Located together at East Coast Park Area D, friends and families can now enjoy a variety of activities, ranging from active play to tranquil nature-based interactions!

At the Wellness Garden, you can also take in panoramic views at the elevated deck, which is accessible via a barrier-free ramp, or go on a leisurely stroll along the pond trail to spot dragonflies and birds amongst aquatic plants such as the Indian Shot and Common Cattail.

30. Peranakan Museum Reopens

The Peranakan Museum in Singapore reopens its doors to the public in mid-February 2023 featuring a refurbished building boasting brand new permanent galleries, featuring exceptional objects from Peranakan material culture, as well as a fresh new exhibition design and visitor experience.

Visitors will encounter intricate objects, interviews, stories, and contemporary expressions in the museum’s nine galleries spanning three floors.

31. Sengkang Grand Mall and Playground

A new shopping mall has popped up at the North-East region of Singapore! Sengkang Grand Mall is the first integrated development that comprises of a 3-level retail component, a hawker centre, childcare centre, community club and residential units.

It is conveniently located above Buangkok MRT station and next to the Buangkok Bus Interchange, offering young families in the region a new place to play, rest and eat! Located outside McDonald's is a little playground for kids to have some play time! Kids can challenge the main play structure, ride the kiddy springers, spin on the merry-go-round and more! 

32. Air Combat - A Brand New VR Experience at Sentosa

Air Combat is an unique VR experience located at Central Beach Bazaar. It combines state-of-the-art VR technology with the excitement of aerial warfare, providing an unparalleled sensory experience for participants. In this enthralling adventure, visitors will don a virtual reality headset and find themselves transported to the heart of intense and realistic aerial battles and thrilling dogfights against enemy aircraft while soaring through realistic seascapes through 6 different movements: Heave, Sway, Surge, Pitch, Roll, and Yaw.  

Unlike other conventional VR rides, the all-new ‘surge’ movement in Air Combat will take guests on an adrenaline rush when the fighter jet takes off from a runway.

With ideas sourced from the Whampoa community, the Whampoa Park located between Whampoa Community Club and St Michael’s Bus Terminal opens with facilities suggested by the residents. 

Whampoa Park houses a pets’ park, a boardwalk, a therapeutic garden with elderly fitness corners for seniors, a 400-metre jogging track and an adult fitness corner for the fitness enthusiasts, playgrounds for our children, and lots of open spaces to facilitate multiple uses.

In particular, the 2 playgrounds and Ninja Obstacle course might be most of interest for families to explore! 

 34. Gillman Barracks Playground

Venue: 9 Lock Road, Gillman Barracks, Singapore 108937

The Gillman Barracks playground is located beside Carpark A, in front of Block 9. It is close by to the many restaurants in the area and can serve as a before and after meal play venue for families! 

The one of the main structure at the playground is a tall tower for the adventurous ones to climb on to! This "treehouse" can be accessed via the climbing wall or cargo net, and little ones can exit via the 2 slides too - and for the older or gung-ho ones, there is also a fireman's pole too! The other main structure is a mini-obstacle course consisting of ramp, tunnel, nettings and more. It is a  relatively simple structure that is open to the imagination of the little ones to make use of.
