1. Take Part in the Families For Life - SAFRA Swim for Hope 2023

SAFRA Swim for Hope 2023 is an extraordinary opportunity for families to come together, participate in a fulfilling activity, and contribute to charitable causes. In this 13th edition, parents and children can choose to take part in the family-centric Families For Life category, where they embark on a meaningful swim challenge, spend quality time together and support a good cause as a family.

Suitable for families with children below 12 years old, the Families for Life category is available at 1KM and 5KM swim distances. To accommodate the schedules of families, the swim challenge may be completed virtually or physically on-site, and for the 5KM swim distance, as a hybrid of both options.

For families looking to include your extended family and friends, join the Team Category and create more splashing fun together as one big group! There will even be a token of appreciation given to the team with the most members too!

2. Enjoy a FREE Outdoor Movie Screening and Family Activities at Raffles Place

The second edition of the UNWIND @ Raffles Place series, “Feel at Home at Raffles Place”, turns the park into a fun marketplace with an exciting shopping experience at the artisan market, energising lawn games, fun kids activities and even an outdoor movie screening as the sun sets. Spanning two days, on 18 and 19 August, you’re in for a fun-filled experience with the whole family!

3. Register for a Flight Experience during the RSAF55 Open House

Venue: Paya Lebar Air Base
Dates: 9 and 10 Sep 2023 (Open House), from 20 Jul - 22 Aug 2023 (Balloting)

The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) open house will offer families the opportunity for rides on the Chinook helicopter and Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), as well as to take a familiarisation flight on the C130 transport aircraft, the Fokker 50 aircraft; and the Singapore Youth Flying Club’s DA40 trainer aircraft. The aircraft will fly along the eastern and southern parts of Singapore, and passengers may be able to see islands to the south of Singapore.

While the experiences will be taking place during the RSAF55 Open House on 9 and 10 Sep 2023 at Paya Lebar Air Base, registration is now open and closes on 22 Aug 2023! So register now for this exclusive experience!

4. Visit the Singapore Night Festival at the Bras Basah.Bugis Precinct

The annual Singapore Night Festival will be back at the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct from 18 to 26 Aug 2023! This year's theme, “Singapore, the Great Port City”, showcases Singapore’s evolution and growth beyond its early role as a port city into a dynamic modern metropolis where worlds meet.

Festival-goers can look forward to exploring the museums and heritage buildings around BBB with a line-up of multi-cultural festival offerings featuring works by local artists. From dynamic projection mappings and Night Lights installations, to unique, experiential programmes and food and retail experiences, the Singapore Night Festival 2023 is sure to delight! And for the very first time, the Singapore Night Festival will feature a family zone around Fort Canning Rise with activities catered to children by the Children’s Museum Singapore.

5. Visit the New Attraction - The Palawan @ Sentosa

Venue: Palawan Beach, Sentosa

The Palawan @ Sentosa is a 183,000 sq ft new lifestyle destination by the Shangri-La Group and will feature eight new play experiences for families! The attractions include an indoor electric go-kart circuit, an outdoor mini-golf course, a family beach club and more! 

Not all of the attraction is open yet, but this is very exciting news and we cannot wait to visit soon!

6. Experience Unique Tours and Experiences at the My Community Festival 2023

My Community Festival 2023 (MCF 2023) kicks off from 4 to 20 August 2023 with a slate of living heritage events and tours aimed at engaging a new audience of families, residents and tourists. 

Look forward to popular immersive tours showcasing Singapore’s living community heritage, such as old-school market vendors and the stories beyond the wares they trade in. There will be a bumper crop of over 100 events spread across eight programme series, with activities ranging from a duration of 1.5 to 11.5 hours, making it the biggest My Community Festival yet. Every activity is interactive and intimate, and festival-goers can get up close and personal with hawkers, shopkeepers, fishmongers and ordinary residents.

7. Play at the Reopened Choa Chu Kang Mini-Waterpark

Families in the West looking for respite from the heat will be keen to know that there is a mini-transport-themed waterpark, the Choa Chu Kang Mini-Playground, located beside Keat Hong Community Centre, just opposite the Choa Chu Kang MRT Station. The water play venue recently reopened and the news of its opening has been well-received by residents in the area! 

8. Play at the Reopened KidzPlay @ SkyGarden

Venue: Roof-top of NEX Singapore

Admission: Free

Located at the roof-top of NEX, KidzPlay @ SkyGarden was a popular venue with families as it boast both a wet and dry play space for kids. The play space has been closed for a revamp and is expected to fully reopened by Oct 2023. 

However, families who visit will be happy to know that the toddler play area, Pirate's Hangout, has recently reopened - this is a small dry playground suitable for 2 to 5 year old, consisting of a pirate ship main play structure where kids can climb up and play pretend! The structure also has 2 short slides for the young ones to slide down safely too! 

9. Explore the LKY100: The Life and Legacy of Lee Kuan Yew (1923–2015)

In commemoration of Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s 100th birth anniversary, the National Museum of Singapore has commissioned a new short film, LKY100: The Life and Legacy of Lee Kuan Yew (1923–2015), by local filmmaker Royston Tan that honours Singapore’s founding prime minister and his enduring contribution to the country. 

The film, which runs approximately 5 minutes, will be presented in the concluding section of the museum’s Singapore History Gallery and featured in a digital trail. Snippets of the film will be adapted into the museum’s National Day façade light-up for all to enjoy from 21 July to 9 August 2023, 7.30pm to 12 midnight. 

10. Gardens by the Bay x Mediacorp National Day Concert

For the first time in four years, the Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert returns to a full-scale extravaganza on 5 August at The Meadow, the Gardens’ largest event venue. Occupying a space of 22,000 square metres, the size of about three football fields, this free concert aims to bring different communities together to celebrate Singapore’s 58th birthday with mesmerising performances by multicultural local talents.

Concert goers looking to start their day early can also head down with their picnic mats and join the pre-event festivities. These include a carnival with free family-friendly activities and photo-worthy spots, featuring inflatables of well-known Singapore landmarks such as the iconic dragon playground, giveaways of plants grown in Gardens by the Bay, a pet’s walk programme, and distribution of old-school snacks such as kacang putih to bring communities together as they celebrate the nation’s birthday. 

Into its fifth edition, this concert will also feature an inaugural fireworks display that will illuminate the night sky at Gardens by the Bay in a myriad of colours.

11. FairPrice on Wheels National Day Block Parties

In celebration of Singapore's 58th birthday, FairPrice Group will be bringing block parties to two heartland locations Ang Mo Kio and Jurong West on 5 August 2023. Both block parties, hosted from FPG’s roving FairPrice on Wheels trucks, will pay homage to local flavours and nostalgic experiences.

Ang Mo Kio and Jurong residents, along with visitors, can look forward to specially curated carnival-like game booths and food stalls showcasing FPG’s own brands and Made in Singapore brand products.

Kidztropic provides fun and educational learning for kids (aged 0 to 6 years) through purposeful play, as well as encourages family bonding through its various programmes and activities, offering different types of play for kids of varying ages, abilities and interests.

13. Visit the Horses at the New Gallop Stable at Downtown East

Spanning an impressive 38,000 square feet, this container park is poised to become one of Singapore's largest food and beverage hubs.

19. Register for the Upcoming Mandai Wildlife Run

20. PAYM Loves Red Art Contest 2023 at Chong Pang

Organised by Chong Pang Youth Network, under the People's Association Youth Movement (PAYM), the PAYM Loves Red Art Contest 2023 is a free event for children and youths in the community to enhance their creativity and showcase their vibrant energy through various artistic activities.

 Apart from the art contest, there will be food and activity booths, a bouncy castle and balloon sculpting. There will also be dance and music performance by Yishun Innova Junior College, and NDP quiz where there will be attractive prizes to be won!

26. Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig's Celebration!

Peppa Pig is coming back to Singapore w.ith an oink-tastic musical show! Peppa will take the stage with her family and friends to perform live at Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands in August! 

Peppa Pig’s Celebration tells the story of how truly special it is to collect and treasure shared memories. 

This live performance tells the story of Peppa Pig, who arrives home to a special surprise secretly prepared by Mummy Pig. Peppa and George were both too curious to wait, so Mummy Pig shares with them the surprise Family Photo Album, where they find a precious collection of family pictures.

27. Join Urban Tactical SG on a Foam Blaster Game

If you are looking for an energy packed, excitement filled and fun overloaded experience that you can experience together with your child, you should try Foam Blasting. Foam Blasting uses form blasters, most popular being Dartzone and Nerf Blasters, to battle it out in different forms of game play.

28. Come visit the World of Tokidoki at The Centrepoint and Waterway Point

Don’t miss a visit to the exclusive collaboration “Art Beyond Boundaries” between The Centrepoint and tokidoki happening from 4 to 21 August. 29. 14th Asia Pacific Orchid Conference

This year, Singapore will play host to the 14th edition of the conference for the first time since the inaugural edition in 1984. This year’s APOC, with the theme “Diversity, Conservation, Culture”, comprises a five-day Orchid Show and a four-day Conference Programme at Singapore EXPO, Hall 2, from 16 to 20 August 2023.

Held every three years, APOC is the largest gathering of orchid researchers, professional growers, and enthusiasts in the Asia-Pacific region. It supports the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, practices, and trends in orchid development, biotechnology, science, and conservation amongst the orchid community.

Enter a magical world of exquisite orchid displays! Whether you are a serious gardener, hobbyist or just looking for a wonderful day out with the family, you are in for delightful treats at the Show.

30. Catch the National Day Parade

For families who did not manage to ballot for the National Day Parade tickets, turn on your TV and tune in to the LIVE broadcast to catch the action from the comfort of your home! You will get to have a front row seat to all the action, performances and even the fireworks! 

That's not all! As part of the Fly Our Flag segment, the state flag will be flown on two routes around the island so look out of your windows to spot the RSAF55 Island Flypast of 10 aircraft will make their way through the heartlands as well! 

And if you are near any of the 5 National Day Heartland Celebrations, you may also get to catch the fireworks near your home too! 

31. Five National Day Heartland Celebrations

This year's Heartland Celebration is done in collaboration with SportsSG. Called the GetActive! Singapore Heartland Festivals, the 2-day celebrations from 5 to 6 Aug will feature family-friendly activities such as sport tryouts, live performances and more at these 5 venues!

Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for e-tickets to GetActive! Singapore Heartland Festivals. Limited physical tickets are also available for collection at various SAFRA clubs. Application for tickets can be done via online application via the NDP website from 15 July onwards.

You can also catch the fireworks display at all five sites on 9 Aug, and catch the island flypast across Singapore.
