With ideas sourced from the Whampoa community, the Whampoa Park located between Whampoa Community Club and St Michael’s Bus Terminal opens with facilities suggested by the residents. 

Whampoa Park was given the name by the community and it houses a pets’ park, a boardwalk, a therapeutic garden with elderly fitness corners for seniors, a 400-metre jogging track and an adult fitness corner for the fitness enthusiasts, playgrounds for our children, and lots of open spaces to facilitate multiple uses.

In particular, the 2 playgrounds and Ninja Obstacle course might be most of interest for families to explore! The playgrounds are suitable for 2 to 5 years old and 5 to 12 years old while the Ninja Obstacle course is suitable for 13 years old onwards.

SkyPark By Kiztopia @Cineleisure has opened and you are promised an exciting adventure at this new play park! Designed for kids 6 and up, this is a great place to bring the older ones who are "too old" for playgrounds. For the first time in Southeast Asia, a Nintendo Pop-Up Store will open in Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport for a limited time period, from 17 Nov 2023 to 1 Jan 2024. The Singapore store will feature merchandise from games such as Super Mario, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and Pikmin. These merchandise were previously only available at Nintendo TOKYO, Nintendo OSAKA, and Nintendo KYOTO stores, and they will be available in Singapore soon! 

A key highlight of the product line-up is a special illustration, which shows Mario leading the way, as well as characters such as, Squid Ring from Splatoon, Isabelle and a villager from Animal Crossing, Link from The Legend of Zelda and many others crossing game borders to welcome all at the store. This illustration will be featured in special original merchandise which will be available for purchase.

This year, the Marina Bay Countdown 2024 will include the highly-anticipated New Year Eve’s fireworks from a more central location of the Bay, offering more spectators a captivating viewing experience from all around. Produced by the team behind STAR ISLAND, the fireworks musical that mesmerised the crowd last year, these fireworks will light up the Bay across three chapters, unfolding at intervals in the hour leading up to midnight. 

Choreographed to tell a story of reflection and hope, the fireworks will kick off with a tribute to the past year’s challenges and triumphs, before heralding the promise of new beginnings and thereafter, culminating in a 12-minute grand finale celebrating Singaporeans’ unyielding spirit as we embrace the future. The audience can look forward to an immersive experience with artisanal fireworks that change colour as they burst and bloom into rings of different colours, accompanied by specially curated music played through speakers around the Bay.

Give This Festive Season with the Endowus Giving Machine

The Endowus Giving Machine – a novel initiative which turns the traditional vending machine on its head – has returned for its third edition, encouraging Singaporeans and families to give back during the year-end festive season, supporting the 34 charities under the initiative!

Expanding its footprint islandwide, physical and virtual ‘vending machines’ are placed in 24 locations across the city-state. From centrally-located and heartland shopping malls, to high-traffic MRT stations and community spaces, people have the opportunity to choose a charity and donate conveniently, wherever they are. Donors can choose to contribute in $5, $10 or $30 denominations , and the donations will be channelled towards efforts such as purchasing meals for seniors, providing allowance for a needy child, or covering rehabilitation sessions for the disabled.

The Endowus Giving Machine initiative will run from 15 November 2023 to 15 January 2024. Donations made virtually via www.endowus.com/givingmachine towards charities with IPC status will be applicable for tax deductions.

Free Cookies at The Magic of Hope by Geneco

Showcasing Inspirational Quote of Hope, families can visit and vote for their favourite quotes at the pop-up store, and walk away with a complimentary bag of exclusive Geneco X Yellow Ribbon Red Velvet & Almonds cookies across two weekends: 9 to 10, and 16 to 17 December 2023. 

Families will find a delightful array of festive treats and coffee at the pop-up store. With every purchase made, a portion goes directly toward supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts of inmates and ex-offenders.

In a celebration of literary joy and community impact, Amazon Singapore launched ‘Page to Page: Amazon Singapore Books Pop Up’ at Punggol Regional Library. 

The pop-up promises an enriching experience for families and young school children, extending reading resources to the heartlands. Showcasing a tree adorned with books sourced from Amazon Singapore's diverse local and international sellers, the initiative fosters a sense of community, inspiring a passion for literacy during the festive season.

Families are encouraged to join with their children, to cultivate a mutual love for reading and engaging in creative activities to craft special moments with each other.
