Poems on the MRT
Embark on a literary journey with Poems on the MRT, an initiative by the National Arts Council in partnership with SMRT Trains and Stellar Ace, brought to life by Sing Lit Station. From 1 November 2024, Singapore poetry will take over the MRT network, integrating local literature into the daily experience of commuters.
Look out for over a hundred poems in English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil in trains on the East-West, North-South and Circle Lines, as well as videos created by local artists and featuring local poets in stations and on trains.

Concept Train

An eye-catching train wrap will transform one MRT train into a bookstore, featuring vibrant designs and local poetry that bring Singapore’s literary culture to life.

Short excerpts of over 100 Sing Lit poems in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil will be displayed within trains, with English translations for the poems in mother tongue languages. Commuters may scan QR codes to read the full poems and translations.

Engaging short videos inside MRT trains and at stations, showcasing interviews with local poets and two short animations by local artists celebrating a culture of reading and literary appreciation.
Poems on the MRT Bingo Competition

Participants can download a digital copy of the bingo card, photograph three poems on the MRT panels that fit the card’s various categories and upload their submissions via a Google Form. The first three complete submissions will win an attractive prize of a Kobo reader preloaded with Sing Lit titles.
