Here are 4 new fun web games for families to play together and for children to learn about being more inclusive and caring on our daily commute.

Gather your family for a meaningful adventure with four engaging web games designed to nurture empathy and compassion. Launched during Caring Commuter Week 2024, these games are created to encourage children to exhibit the Four Caring Norms—Give Time, Give Care, Give a Hand, and Give Thanks—when commuting. These games also provide families with a fun way to bond while learning caring commuting tips.

Teaching Values - From Virtual to Real World

The games bring real-life situations into a fun, digital format, offering children an interactive way to learn more about empathy, patience, and gratitude. They serve as a meaningful tool to inspire positive actions and thoughtful behaviours on public transport.

The Four Caring Norms practiced within the games extend beyond the gameplay; they are essential life lessons that help children grow into compassionate and considerate individuals. Through these interactive experiences, parents can guide their children to understand the impact of mindful and considerate actions and how they contribute to an inclusive and caring community.

Introducing the Games

While the games are designed for children, they offer an opportunity for families to play together, creating shared memories and reinforcing valuable lessons. We’ve explored each of the four games, and here’s what you can expect:

  • Rush Hour: 4 ‘Gives’ on the Go

This game introduces the Four Caring Norms in a bustling commuter setting with a "Diner Dash"-style challenge. Children play the role of "guide," helping passengers find their seats and keeping the bus and public transport nodes clean, all while aiming to maintain a high reputation score throughout the journey!

With its easy, click-based gameplay, this game will be best enjoyed by Upper Primary students.

  • My Caring Journey

In this role-playing game, children step into the shoes of "Joe," a primary school student heading home. During his journey, Joe encounters commuters who need assistance, and players must choose the best ways to help. Children are taken on an empathy journey as they solve puzzles and answer multiple-choice questions that reinforce their knowledge about vulnerable commuters that might need help during their own commutes.

This game is ideal for Upper Primary students.

    • Caring Journeys with Commuter Champion

In this first-person game, children get to engage with different commuters—complete with fun and cheeky Gen Alpha phrases like "skibidi"—to identify vulnerable commuters who may need assistance. Through a blend of questions, answers, and mini-games, players practise the 3As: Assess, Ask, and Assist, on their journey to becoming a Commuter Champion!

The playful interactions and engaging gameplay make this game especially appealing for Upper Primary students.

    • Caring Heroes

Designed for younger children in lower primary, this runner-style game has players dodging obstacles, answering questions to earn power-ups, and interacting with vulnerable commuters to learn the right ways to show care and respect.

With simple left and right controls (or mouse clicks), this game is easy for Lower Primary students to pick up and enjoy!

      Join the Journey

These games offer a unique chance to not only entertain but also educate our young ones on the values of care and respect on public transport. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun, and to be role models by signing up to become Caring Commuter Champions themselves.

Ready to join in on the fun? Simply visit the Caring SG Commuters portal, where all four games are available and click on them to start playing. Kickstart the journey of learning, caring, and bonding with your family today!
