Families can expect more Live Action movies, animations and more from The Walt Disney Studios.
The Walt Disney Studios made some big announcements, provided new details and future plans for Disney Live Action, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios at the D23 Expo 2022.
New Disney Castle Logo
A brand-new logo of the iconic Disney castle was introduced — now platinum in honor of Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder celebration.
Disney LIVE Action
Pinocchio was introduced to Disney+ in Sep 2022. This LIVE action remake of the popular animation stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto and Erivo as the Blue Fairy, and features the voices of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio, respectively.
Families can expect more LIVE action with "Hocus Pocus 2" debuting exclusively on Disney+ on 30 Sep, "Disenchanted" on 24 Nov and the much anticipated "Peter Pan & Wendy" in 2023.
Other upcoming titles in 2023 and 2024 are "Haunted Mansion", "Mufasa: The Lion King", "Snow White" and "The Little Mermaid".
Animations from Pixar
Families can also expect new animations from the Emeryville-based animation studio. These include "Elemental" in Jun 2023, "Win or Lose" in Fall 2023, "Elio" in Spring 2024, and the sequel to Inside Out, "Inside Out 2" slated for release in Summer 2024.
Walt Disney Animation Studios' 100-Year Celebrations
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee also shared details about the studio’s plans for the yearlong 100-year anniversary celebration.
Families can look forward to the launch of the new series "Zootopia+" on Disney+ on 9 Nov, "IWÁJÚ", "Strange World", and "Wish", an animated musical inspired by the legacy of films from the studio and asks the question: “How did the wishing star, upon which so many characters wished, come to be?”
