Located along the Rail Corridor, near Buona Vista MRT station, Buona Vista community node has opened with a playground with biophilic elements.
Venue: Intersection of North Buona Vista Road and Commonwealth Avenue
Along the southern stretch of the Rail Corridor, the Buona Vista Community Node is new 1.6ha space that opened on 22 Apr 2024. Visitors to the Rail Corridor can now get access to additional community spaces that includes a playground, fitness areas and open lawn.
Play Spaces and More
Highlights to the space include a children’s playground with biophilic elements, fitness areas for adults and the elderly, a plug-and-play space underneath the North Buona Vista Link viaduct for community and sports activities, and a 500 sqm community lawn that serves as a flexible events space.
Nature
The node is planted with vegetated swales that looks back at the original stream and marshland landscape of the Rail Corridor before the railway was first built, and provide new habitats for dragonflies and other biodiversity to thrive.
Children's Playground
Inspired by the natural wilderness of the Rail Corridor, the children’s playground at the Buona Vista Community Node is designed to offer diverse textures and makes use of topography to encourage children to reconnect with nature.
For example, one of the play structure is a little "hill" with different coloured grass at each height, representing contour heights found on maps. Its a relatively simple play structure that allows children to climb up and slide down. There's also a tunnel that runs through the hill too!

Families will also find log steps, as well as a wooden climbing structure where children can conquer rope ladders and to balance across the wooden log bridge. Similarly, if you looked on the ground, you will notice the same "contour heights" design too.

Little ones will also find spring rides and a spring see-saw for them to bounce to their hearts content!
Fitness Areas and More
The new fitness areas at the Buona Vista community node are accessible via barrier-free ramps and friendly to use for adults and seniors.
The street art space underneath Commonwealth Avenue viaduct is a joint initiative with local artists, showcasing the creative side of our local community.
Underneath North Buona Vista Link viaduct, a 900 sqm plug-and-play space serves as a multi-functional community space that can be used for a variety of activities and events. Sports enthusiasts can make use of the anti-skid painted surface as a high intensity interval training (HIIT) circuit while residents and those working in the area can utilise the space for community bonding activities.
Families can also look forward to amenities such as bicycle parking, lockers and shower facilities at Elementum when it opens.
Location
The Buona Vista Community Node is conveniently located between The Metropolis and Elementum (opening soon), and in close proximity to Buona Vista MRT interchange station, this node is easily accessible and brings the public closer to nature, heritage and recreation.
