5. La Pizzaiola Opens at Bukit Timah

Since its reopening in 2012, the pizza joint founded and helmed by Ristorante Pietrasanta’s Chef Loris Massimini, has garnered a steady following for its concise menu of Italian standards with antipasti, pasta and pizza baked in a traditional oven crafted in Italy.

At the new La Pizzaiola outlet at Bukit Timah, families can expect fresh new flavours offered across antipasti, pizzas, pastas and hot mains. Sample the new flavors including tantalizing options such as Filetto di Branzino all Isolana, a baked seabass filet adorned with sliced onions, capers, black olives, and tomato in a divine white wine sauce, and Ai 4 Pomodori, a pizza featuring 4 types of Italian tomatoes, and Mozzarella Fior di Latte.

6. Chef X Let's Home-based Chefs Run a Full-fledge Restaurant

Opening Hours: Differs for each resident chef 

Far East Organization launches Chef X, an initiative that provides homebased chefs and private dining chefs with a sandbox to operate their own full-fledged commercial restaurant within Clarke Quay Central mall for four or eight weeks. 

Each resident chef, who will helm the restaurant for four or eight weeks, will showcase their culinary skills and individual styles, cooking at the unit for dine-in customers, with the option of takeaway. 

Kicking off the project is Royaleys Smoky Boat from 26 Apr to 21 Jun 2024. Named for their boat-like form, these banana leaf parcels are stuffed with premium quality rice topped with a range of ingredients – chicken, fish, prawn, or soybean – naturally seasoned with tempered spice pastes.

7. Franco-Asian Casual Dining Concept, The Masses Relocates to The Capitol Kempinski Hotel

The Masses opens the doors to their new home at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel in mid-April. Located in the heart of the city, the restaurant is more conveniently reached; and while a better location usually means more expensive dining, prices are kept low with astute cost engineering.

On the menu are classic French favourites complemented by original creations and weekly specials featuring select seasonal produce. A French core is layered with flavours and inspirations drawn from Chef Dylan’s Asian heritage, hawker background, and the team’s own unique encounters with food. 

Every recipe served is personally loved and dearly shared, like the signature main Duck Confit: a dish of duck leg confit for 12 hours, pan-seared for a delightfully crisp skin, plated atop “wok hey” rice noodles flavourful with chicken stock and the kiss of the wok. The incorporation of rice noodles is a nod to Chef Dylan’s story, growing up in a Kway Chap stall run by his parents. Creatively composed, the Smoked Pu Er Caviar & Beignet stars fluffy golden beignets filled with a tangy yuzu crème, topped with Avruga caviar smoked in-house with pu er tea. 

8. L'antica Pizzeria Da Michele Opens Its First Southeast Asian Outlet in Singapore

16. Buona Terra Latest Menu Iteration 

The Michelin-starred contemporary Italian fine dining restaurant Buona Terra embraces the winds of change with its latest menu iteration ($118++ for the four-course lunch menu, $178++ for the Buona Terra Lunch Experience, $248++ for the Buona Terra Dinner Experience). 

Anticipate plump seafood coupled with the season’s harvest in the Aragosta course – Lobster with Anchovies, Artichoke, and Lemon. Enrobed in Wagyu fat, the Canadian lobster tail is then char-grilled over binchotan and brought together by an exquisite and flavoursome 'Bagna Cauda' anchovy sauce. The lobster is crowned with a garden of sliced artichoke, preserved Amalfi lemon skin, crispy Jerusalem artichoke, and edible flowers — showcasing the sweet and crisp flavours of impeccable Spring ingredients.

The Turbot BBQ, Herbs Puree, Lemon, Garlic, and Mugania Sauce is an artful and innovative creation reminiscent of enjoying an outdoor barbeque in the gentle Spring weather. Dry-aged turbot is binchotan-grilled and brushed with a savoury house-made barbeque sauce of turbot jus and tomato puree. Accompanying the fish is a herb puree, blanched puntarella, Amalfi lemon puree, black garlic puree, and finished with a rustic mugnaia sauce or brown butter sauce.

17. Butcher’s Block Refreshed Spring Menu

The refreshed Spring menus at Butcher’s Block celebrate nature’s best through harvests straight from the restaurant’s local farm. In the latest edition of the IMUA tasting menus ($168++ for the five-course lunch, $218++ for the six-course dinner), guests can savour a line-up of distinctive creations that highlight a mix of vibrant local harvests, as well as seasonal vegetable and herb varieties. 

The Dry-aged Duck is a dish prepared with thoughtful finesse to maximise the enjoyment of the whole bird: the duck breast is dry-aged for up to 21 days, then hung above the fire to cook slowly in ambient heat; a medallion of deboned duck leg is seasoned with aromatic Chinese barbecue spices, sous vide and grilled; and duck tongue is deep fried into a crisp delight. The dish is paired with harvests from the Butcher’s Block farm like charred whole turnips with the tops, watercress, dill puree, and amaranth leaves.

The Miso Black Cod is grilled over wood-fire and contrasted with the refreshing medley of baby kailan kimchi, Swiss chard, crispy lettuce, and dill — all of which are grown at the restaurant’s farm. Paired with an elevated risotto-style ‘congee’ made with Hokkaido Yumepirika sushi rice and a fish-and-bone broth, the dish is enriched with flavours from white soy, crispy house-cured prosciutto, grated scallop roe, sakura ebi, caviar; and finely chopped chives that are also from the farm.

18. Abura Kappo Adds To Its Menu

At Hashida Singapore’s restaurant-in-restaurant concept Abura Kappothe fixed menu ($200++) has been refreshed with ingredients befitting for the Spring season.

The Carpaccio is an elegant dish with sliced raw Japanese buri (yellowtail), raw Japanese squid, green apples, and pickled red onions. To top, the carpaccio is garnished with delicate fronds of dill, fennel, lemon balm and a sprinkle of gin salt. Poured over the carpaccio is a pickled dashi sauce formed from a blend of 10 ingredients: orange juice, vinegar, red pepper, white pepper, black pepper, red chilli pepper, red chilli flakes, pickled red onion, orange peel, and cumin. 

The Hotaru ika salad is a vibrant display of the season’s best as colours fill the plate with vivid greens and red. Alongside the confit of Hotaru ika (firefly squid) with garlic and bay leaves, there are also Japanese broad beans, and eryngii mushrooms. The salad is served with fresh Japanese tomatoes, nanohana (rapeseed), boiled barley, a ribbon of vinegar-pickled cucumber, confit chilli pepper, and finished with a bright and zesty kiwi sauce.

19. Fat Cow's Latest Chef’s Table Omakase Menu

The beauty of seasonal eating is explored at Fat Cow with the latest Chef’s Table Omakase menu ($168++ for the Shin Omakase lunch menu, $198++ for the Tetsu Omakase dinner menu).

The Hotate and Spring Mountain Vegetable Salad features the gently sweet Japanese scallop and salmon roe on a bed of Spring’s finest selections of white asparagus, ostrich fern, fatsia sprout, and rape flower. The Sake Steamed Japanese Sea Bream and Tai Donabe Chazuke served with shirasu, sakura-ebi and ikura are comforting and deeply-flavourful dishes that showcase the season’s best. While the Sous-Vide Toriyama Wagyu Carpaccio is topped with the balanced pairing of truffle ponzu, chopped truffle, chives, and shio kombu.

To start is a Butter Poached Lobster Salad, vibrant with a lemon herb dressing and crowned with succulent Canadian lobster. Choice of mains include the Woodfire Grilled Wagyu Petite Tender, exquisitely flavourful Sanchoku Wagyu beef served alongside oven-baked baby carrots in a red wine jus, roast garlic aioli, vine tomatoes and micro herbs. 28. Bedrock Origin Mother's Day Set Lunch

Within the charming coastal escape of Bedrock Origin, enjoy the salt-kissed breeze as you meet with mum for a 3-course Mother’s Day Set Lunch ($88++ per person), available from 5 to 12 May 2024, inclusive of a complimentary glass of Chardonnay or Shiraz Cabernet. For the main course, pick an Applewood Grilled Tenderloin — expertly fired on Bedrock’s signature applewood grill, accompanied by smoked celeriac mash and porcini reduction — or select the Oven-Baked Chilean Seabass, complemented by velvety corn velouté, pickled Galician mussels, and deep-fried sage. 

29. Ginkyō by Kinki Mother's Day Set Menu

Modern Japanese bistro Ginkyō by Kinki offers a vibrant social space in which mum and the family may enjoy a laid-back communal-style Mother’s Day Set Menu ($288++ for 4 persons), available all day on 11 and 12 May 2024 for dine-in only.

Highlights include the signature Ginkyō Crispies, bite-sized delights of Koshihikari rice deep-fried to golden crunchiness and topped with decadences of fresh uni, ikura, and negitoro; finished with caviar and edible gold flakes. To amp up celebrations, orders of the set menu will include a complimentary glass of prosecco for mothers.

30. YÀN Dine-In and Takeaway Mother's Day Menu

Gather with the family at YÀN for a feast of comforting Cantonese classics, perfect for the mums who feel at home with Chinese cuisine. Available from 1 to 12 May 2024, a 6-course Signature Menu ($168.80++ per person; minimum 2 persons) and an 8-course Celebratory Menu ($128.80++ per person; minimum 4 persons) teem with delicacies like the Braised Whole Two-Head Abalone with Seasonal Vegetables, and the well-loved signature Roast Peking Duck served with Chinese Pancake, Cucumber, and Spring Onions. As a gift, guests will receive a complimentary canister of Snow Chrysanthemum tea with every order of the set menu.

YAN makes it easy to celebrate at home too, with a takeaway menu ($88++ per person; minimum 4 persons) available from 1 May to 16 June 2024. In the comfort of home, savour dishes like a delectably tender Steamed Cod Fish Fillet with Enoki Mushroom and Minced Garlic, and toast to the occasion with a complimentary bottle of red wine. 

31. Red House Seafood Parent's Day Set Menu

This Mother’s and Father’s Day, proudly homegrown, family-owned Singapore Nanyang-style seafood restaurant group Red House Seafood promises to impress with an 8-course menu featuring a varied array of dishes including a first-of-its-kind Prosperity Longevity Noodles ‘Lo Hei’ Style, outlet-exclusives, and familiar soul-satisfying classics.

For Mother’s Day, The Marmalade Pantry presents the exclusive Lush Lilac Afternoon Tea Set ($78++ for two persons), available from 1 May to 31 July 2024. Coloured in pretty shades of purple, this stunning curation includes specials such as the Petite Yam Velvet CupcakeLavender Chiboust, and Lavender Prawn Tart. Come Mother’s Day weekend on 11 and 12 May, the first ten guests to reserve the tea set per day for dine-in at each outlet* will receive a complimentary pair of handcrafted polymer earrings, perfect for everyday wear.

35. MIYOSHI by Fat Cow - A Taste of Love, For Mom

Housed in a conservation building on balmy Sentosa island, MIYOSHI by Fat Cow is the perfect setting for a day out with mum. Indulge in a 5-course menu for lunch and dinner, aptly named “A Taste of Love, For Mom” ($168++ per person), available from 8 to 12 May 2024.

Mains are a choice of Miyazaki A4 Sukiyaki — quality A4 ribeye sukiyaki cooked till melt-in-your-mouth tender on the teppan grill, served with sukiyaki sauce and egg yolk foam — or Karasu Karei Rikyu Yaki, halibut from Aomori marinated with saikyo miso, grilled over binchotan for a caramelised finish and paired with house-made sesame sauce. 

36. Dian Xiao Er Mother's Day Set Menu 

Celebrate Parent's Day at Dian Xiao Er with 3 specially curated set menus available for dine-in and takeaway from 23 Apr - 16 Jun 2024. 

The set menus come with an array of signature family favourites and new dishes including the Prawn Paste Stuffed Morel Mushrooms with Asparagus, Braised Abalone with Fish Maw, Honey Garlic Chicken and more. The menus are the Thankful Set (from $149), Grateful Set (from $129) and the Loving Set (from $99).

37. LeVeL33 Mother's Day Menu

For lunch or dinner with a view, stop by LeVeL33, the world’s highest urban microbrewery.  A Mother’s Day 3-course menu ($88++ per person) available exclusively on 12 May 2024 showcases their unique ContemBrewery cuisine, where beer and beer-brewing byproducts from their in-house brewery are woven into dishes.

Options for mains include the Australian barramundi, served in a prawn bisque alongside barley risotto, asparagus, peas, and a finishing touch of kombu parsley oil; or the Spent grain pasta made with spent grain from their own microbrewery in a classic vibrant gremolata, with local mushrooms, truffle, and an onsen egg.

38. Fireplace by Bedrock - Complimentary Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

Fireplace by Bedrock melds the charm of age-old elemental cooking with the elegance of sleek modernity. Treat mum to heritage specialities like the Singgang ($38), a dish of spotted mackerel slow-cooked in a fragrant rempah of fresh chillies, bruised lemongrass, galangal and turmeric; combined with coconut milk. In the making of the Sambal Buah Keluak ($29), meat from the keluak nut is laboriously extracted before it is cooked with minced pork in a flavourful sambal sapid with shrimp paste, chillies, shallots, candlenuts, and lemongrass. Feast further on the Ayam Pelencheng ($16), featuring boneless chicken thigh marinated for at least a day in a fresh rempah of grounded chilli, salt, and calamansi; grilled to smoky perfection on order.

End on a sweet note with Rempapa’s heritage kueh, served in assorted platters of 4 ($8), 8 ($16), or 12 ($24). Available daily are a selection of 9 kueh, with mainstays of Kueh Kosui, Kueh Salat, Kueh Bengka, Sarang Semut, and Kueh Bakar Pandan. These confections are crafted from age-old recipes, with the utmost care and attention paid to offering the best tastes and textures of tradition.

48. Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival Traditions with Goodwood Park Hotel

As the annual Dragon Boat Festival approaches, Goodwood Park Hotel is delighted to celebrate the time-honoured tradition with a delectable line-up of novel and classic renditions of ‘zong zi’ 粽子 or ‘bak zhang’ (glutinous rice dumplings).
