This Mid-Autumn Festival, the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre wants you to reap a bountiful harvest of knowledge and experience (since not all of us have crops) with ‘Mid-Autumn Yeah!’ a celebration rich with cultural experiences.
Here are 7 activities out of the many lined-up, ranging from moon-gazing to decorative handwriting that you should join in with your little ones!
1. Night Craft Fun
Have you ever tried to make something in the dark? With Night Craft Fun, you can challenge yourself to customize a handy pouch in a dimly-lit space! And you’ll also be able to pick up some basic calligraphy skills!

2. Moonwalking
While you won’t be boarding a rocket to take a stroll on the moon, you’ll get to enjoy a closer view of the moon by turning your phone into a virtual reality viewer! A virtual Moonwalking if you will.

3. Secrets of The Night Sky
Secrets of The Night Sky consists of a series of planetarium shows by Science Centre Singapore, which unveils fascinating tales as well as the science behind the moon. You’ll also be able to learn about how people from ancient times located their positions by looking at the stars.

4. Starry, Starry Night
Head up to the roof garden to witness the moon at its roundest and while you’re there, discover more about two planets which have the most moons in the solar system.

5. Who’s My Fam?
Who’s My Fam is a parent-child genealogy workshop where you’ll get to trace your roots and learn more about your family members. You might just dig up some fascinating detail! The workshop will be conducted in Mandarin.

6. Happy Tea
There are so many different types of tea, from Pu’er to Tieguanyin tea, why not take this chance to try your hand at blending and brewing tea? Please note that Happy Tea will be conducted in Mandarin.

7. Puppet Story
Learn more about Chinese hand puppetry and find out how good you’re at it by trying your hand at enacting the story of ‘Chang Er’ at Puppet Story, presented by Paper Monkey Theatre. At the end of the day, you’ll get to walk home with one more way to keep your kiddos entertained when you don’t feel like leaving the house.  Â
