Rainforest Wild Asia: Singapore’s Fifth Wildlife Park

The first phase of Singapore’s fifth zoological park will be launched at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve in March 2025. Accessible from Mandai Wildlife West, Rainforest Wild Asia is set to offer a very different set of experiences.

Here's what you can look forward to:

A Rainforest Adventure for All: Explore Diverse Trails & Thrilling Experiences

Rainforest Wild Asia spans 13 hectares, offering an unforgettable journey for adventurers of all levels.

Immerse in walk-through habitats, track wildlife in naturalistic surroundings and have a taste of what it could be like hiking through a Southeast Asian rainforest. Explore a variety of trails, from leisurely strolls on accessible elevated walkways to rugged forest paths, each offering unique perspectives of animal habitats.

These paths provide opportunities to spot the elusive Malayan tiger along the way or be at eye-level with species like the Malayan sun bear, albeit at a safe distance away. Home to 29 iconic species, including the threatened François' langur and Philippine spotted deer, the park also boasts 7,000 Southeast Asian trees to enhance its recreated rainforest environment.

For thrill-seekers, enjoy rock climbing, freefall jumps, and caving expeditions while immersing yourself in the diverse wildlife of their natural rainforest habitat.

Dynamic Habitats at Rainforest Wild Asia

Rainforest Wild Asia introduces flexible habitats, featuring animals like red dholes and babirusas at different times of the day. These dynamic spaces encourage natural behaviours, providing visitors with educational experiences.

Explore Wildlife in 8 Immersive Zones: A Multi-Layered Rainforest Adventure

Across different zones, guests will navigate a multi-layered rainforest adventure, where animal encounters turn into delightful surprises. Visitors will learn to seek out wildlife hidden among the trees and foliage, just like in a rainforest.

Here's taking a closer look at the various zones at Rainforest Wild Asia:

1. Entrance Gorge

The Entrance Gorge offers visitors a unique transition into the park, guiding them from manicured spaces and into the rainforest. Designed to mimic the edge of a natural rainforest, the area includes emergent trees that allows visitors to feel as though they are right at a forest’s edge.

2. The Karsts

On the outskirts of Entrance Gorge lies The Karsts, an expansive, open-concept habitat home to the François' langurs. Visitors will have the exciting opportunity to climb the rock face and come eye-to-eye with these fascinating primates.

3. Forest Floor

The Forest Floor will offer visitors the opportunity to experience the rich, nutrient-dense environment that sustains the entire rainforest.

Here, visitors will have to duck below fallen trees or climb over logs lying across the path and as visitors slowly descend towards the forest floor, they spot the first signs of life – a sudden movement amongst the tall trees, a free-roaming mouse deer grazing nearby.

4. The Outpost

The Outpost is a rest point for explorers and visitors to take stock of the adventure that had already been revealed to them and get a glimpse of the discoveries that still lay ahead. This is the first ‘base camp’ where visitors can take a moment to relax, enjoy a refreshing drink and grab a bite, all while soaking in views of the surrounding forest.

The Outpost also houses the park’s camping ground. It can accommodate 20 dome tents and offers facilities like a classroom and shower areas for campers.

5. Rock Cascade

Onwards to Rock Cascade where guests will cross different types of vegetation and landscapes from tall grasses and bamboo groves to majestic trees.

As the main elevated walkway ascends higher above the forest floor, visitors will encounter the Malayan tiger exhibit, where these apex predators wander through tunnels, traverse rocky formations and navigate cascading waterfalls to reach elevated vantage points. Cross a root bridge to venture deeper into the habitat and potentially be rewarded with a special view of the tiger on its rocky lookout.

In this zone, guests are also introduced to one of the flex habitats that houses a rotating group of predator and prey species in adjacent yet carefully separated habitats.

6. The Canopy

The Canopy will give visitors a glimpse into life at the treetops. In the dense forest consisting of mature trees that highlight the rich canopy environment, visitors can look forward to chance encounters with free-ranging species such as the Javan langur, red-shanked douc langur and siamang.

Be sure to look down to the forest floor and spot ground-dwelling wildlife like the Philippine spotted deer.

7. Watering Hole

Watering Hole is the largest zone in Rainforest Wild Asia and showcases the vital role water plays in shaping the ecosystem. As park goers enter this zone, be sure to look up and try to catch sight of the Malayan sun bear foraging amongst the trees.

Meanwhile, the charming Malayan tapirs can be seen roaming the forest floor below.

8. The Cavern

The finale to the rainforest adventure is a 220-m Cavern modelled after real world cave systems — namely the Mulu Caves in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Ranger Talks

The Rainforest Wild Asia journey is enriched by a series of Ranger Talks, held throughout key zones of the park such as The Karsts, Forest Floor, Watering Hole and more. These daily sessions offer visitors a deeper understanding of the forest-dwelling fauna that thrive in the diverse layers of the rainforest. Visitors can plan their experience around these informative sessions or chance upon them during their adventure.

Add-on Adventure Activities

Take exploration to new heights with a range of add-on Adventure Plus and Black Adventure activities operated by Forest Adventure, designed to elevate the thrill of discovering the rainforest park.

Adventure Plus offers three distinct activities

  • Canopy Jump ($30)

Step off a 13m or 20m platform and experience the exhilarating rush of free fall before safely transitioning into a controlled descent. Take in the stunning vistas of the rainforest, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

  • AIA Vitality Bounce ($15)

Bounce around three lively zones, navigate a climbing net, and take the plunge down a 9m slide — all while surrounded by the beauty of the forest canopy! With a towering tree at the centre of the net, it is a chance to embrace the spirit of a true tree-dweller in this treetop escape.

  • Critter Crawl ($20)

Gear up for an adventure in the dark and tight confines of a cave! Using only the dim light from a headlamp, the small group of participants will navigate a 60m cave tunnel with impressive stalactites, stalagmites rock formations and fossil imprints.

Get up close to hissing cockroaches through a glass floor panel and be prepared to crouch, sidestep, and crawl to explore this underground world.

Black Adventure (available at $192 (Adults), $182 (Child), $172 (Seniors)), offers two guided, three-hour harness tours that take participants to areas otherwise inaccessible.

  • Wild Apex Adventure

Explore the Karst and Canopy habitats, safely moving along the via ferrata path, climbing metal rungs, ladders, and suspended bridges up to 20 metres high. With some luck, you may spot the rare François' langurs scaling the vertical rock formation too.

  • Wild Cavern Adventure

Go on a simulated cave expedition, from abseiling in the dark to squeezing through tight spaces, navigating boulder fields, and exploring narrow tunnels. After learning about fascinating speleothems, the adventure culminates with a photo-worthy moment atop the Oculus!

Dining Options

Refuel and satisfy appetites with the four dining options at Rainforest Wild Asia.

Cavern Restaurant, Singapore’s first and only restaurant in a cave setting, offers a dynamic dining experience. By day, it is a lively hub of gastronomic exploration and by night, it offers the versatility to be transformed into an elegant venue ideal for date nights, social gatherings or corporate events and private events. The Cavern Restaurant is open to the public and accessible without entry into Rainforest Wild Asia.

Rangers Cafe at The Outpost is the perfect pit stop for a refreshing drink and quick bites before continuing the journey.  Indulge in Southeast Asian flavours at Sentinel Foodhall, set in a captivating forest-themed setting or visit Watering Hole Cafe for family-friendly, all-day dining with views of the Malayan tapir habitat.
